Is/ Has anyone here used the dial style gen 1 s-afc? If so, are they any good and / or worthe the 100$ fo rone instead of the 200$+ S-AFC 2 gen of the new 280$ S-AFC II

They do work the same, however the five dials are preset and you cant change them and you only get five zones to change.

The SAFC (current version not II) has 7-8 zones (cant remember now) and you can move the zones around (the rpm they change that is) So more zones and more control

The SAFC II has 11 zones I believe and two maps you can switch between though programming it is a PITA.

The old one works, but for the cash you should really go to a newer style.

I agree ^^. The old know style works, but its such a basic design. You definitely cannot fine tune with it.

i use the 1st gen knob style s-afc.works great for me,but like these guys said,u can control more with the new sytle.it has wot control,looks cooler,more rpm points,stuff like that.its just what u want really,but the 1st gen works great in my opinion.

YEs I am aware of the controlability of the other units, I have tuned with the current version and the II. I am on such a tight budget, that I may have to go this route even thogh I dont want to.

No listen here, this may be a tuffy, Is the AFC-I a plateau style controler, or does it make an even map? By plateau style I mean, say the settings are at 2000rpm, 3000rpm, 4000rpm. YOu have 2000 at -5% 3000at _+3% and 4000 at +10%.
Will the acf keep it at -3% from 2000-3000rpm and them suddenly switch to +3% at 3000rpm, or does it compensate for the difference gradually and make the fuel map into a nice slope?

If fact, do any of them do this?

Also, is the AFC-I correctind all the tiem or is it at WOT only, or is the engagement point adjustable?

RRE... says there is a 3rd gen safc commin out soon... but its pretty pricey
