24/7 Race Gas?

A couple of weeks ago I was reading on a california dsm or evo board. Someone that had posted said that they were dynoing at 500+ hp and since they lived and california and can only get 91 octane, that they constantly used leaded race gas + high boost. If your car is only driven once twice a week, and doesnt have a cat, what damage could the poisoned o2 sensors cause or what else could go wrong?

check engine lights ... thats about it I'd say. Gas City has 100 octane gas that is unleaded .. that's what I use.

the highest that i can get at a pump in my area is 93, which isnt bad. Im just wondering if you always wanted to run high boost just because your car isnt a daily driver and you want to have fun when you take it out, if the only side affects would be CEL(didnt think about that but thats not too bad) and maybe replacing your o2s more often

You can get unleaded race gas, but it won't have as high an octane. There used to be a place near me that sold 104 unleaded, but they closed. If you ruin your O2 sensor by running leaded gas then you'll get shitty gas mileage, and considering how much race gas is it could get costly.

From what Ive read, an 02 sensor can last up to 50 hours of continuous use (not including idle/cruising) so it should still last quite some time on a pure race gas diet. I know a few people that run exclusivly C-16, although the DSM is not their only cars. They do see a lot of street duty though. If you have a 1g you won't get any CE lights at all, and with a 2G I dont think you will get one unless you eliminate your cat and don't use an 02 simulator. Maybe if your fuel trims get way out of whack it might throw a code but if you need to run race gas all the time I would hope you know how to tune a car decently.

i got a o2 sensor that can handle leaded gas, its a denso one, got it from machV, does that mean i can run leaded race gas and not hurt anything?

a cheaper and easier method is just to wrap the second o2 sensor in tin foil and hang it outside of the exhaust(dont forget to plug up the hole).
