i have a 91' eclipse gs-t. i need to know what is the best manual boost controler to get. i also need to know if there is a place where i can get my stock intercooler modified.

this is my first turbo car so any other info on turbos is more than welcome

The only place that i know of that will modify a stock intercooler is www.dejontool.com i have dealt with him numerous times. and he is a very nice guy, and is very professional.

As for a boost controller, you can pay 300.00 for an electric one, or 10 from home depot, you get what you pay for, research, and decide how much you are willing to spend on a boost controller.

The $10 boost contollers that you make yourself don's work worth a damn. The better ones are a lot more involved than just a check valve. I use the FFWD Connection one and have used the Hallman and rank it about the same. Spend $50-75 for a new one and make sure it is a ball and spring type and has a purge vent to aid in spoolup.
Call 810-220-2253 for a modified IC with 2.25" in/outs and a 2.25" lower pipe.

the best MBC is an aquarium bleeder valve yo!

the best thing to do with your IC is ditch it for a volvo fmic cause thy are mad tight yo!

:) of course not yo!

i's gots two volvo FMIC's hooked up on my AWD one in front of the radiator and the second in a section of the hood i cut out  its bes the mads tights yo!

thanx for the help guys, do you know of a MBC that doesnt spike really bad. i heard that most spike about 3psi. are there any that are less than that?

Any of the MBCs with a vent hole drilled in them should work just fine. You can cough up the dough for a pre-made one (Hallman or Joe P) at boostcontroller.com, or just build one of the designs that folks have posted in the VFAQ. The manual ball-type work very well. I just got done building this one: http://www.geocities.com/chmwatson/FAQs/mbc.html
It's the cleanest design out there IMHO. The parts are a bit of a chore to round up, but that's part of the fun! Craig will even build you one for $35 shipped.
There's no need to waste your $ on the more expensive ones.

-Which Volvo did you get them from? I look at the one from a 740 a while back, they are the same size as our radiator.

:D its a joke the old radiator size volvo and saab FMIC's are about the worst things every built for a turbo car. they have ~4-5 times more back pressure then a stock DSM SMIC and considerably more pressure drop...

I use an Extreme XBC. Its a little expensive($100), but it doesnt spike at all. Its also one of the most attractive. But check SlowBoyRacing.com. His looks exactly like the XBC(same style). And its only 50 bucks.

again, i must say the dejon tool DSMBC (electronic between 2 boost controllers) rocks. its quite fun to punch the switch in after 2nd gear to get that extra power without losing traction.
