Hey, I hate to be another person asking questions about exhaust, but i'v checked the forums pretty well and not found anything. Anyways, I was looking at getting a dynomax exhaust system, and was wondering if any one had any opinions on weather this is a good idea or not? I'v found a system i was looking at for around $500. And i also was wondering if anyone knew where to get dynomax headers?

Thanks:dsm:

Since the other bums arent replying I will ;)

I have done some research on dynomax mufflers. I would get a custom 3" mandrel catback made and use a dynomax muffler. Their turbo mufflers actually flow better than a straight pipe. On 2 stroke engines the backpressure is much different than our 4 cylcle motors so we dont really need the vaccum to pull the exhaust out of the engine. If you ever noticed what an aftermakret motorcylce muffler looks like, they are designed to actually pull the gasses out of the motor. This is why they can flow so well and create as much power as they do for being so small. So with a turbo you have much more backpressure, and the dynomax mufflers are good because they can help reduce your back pressure and pull the gasses out of the exhaust. So its better for the turbos and frees up some decent power. We did a test using a CFM flowmeter on a SVO turbo mustang. The 3" straight pipe exhaust didnt flow as well as the 3" pipe with the dynomax attached to the end of it. The speed of the exhaust was a little faster than the straight pipe along. Dynomax impressed me alot! So get a cheap mandrel exhaust with a dynomax muffler. Thats what I would do if I were you, BTW sorry so long - Dan

From My Mustang days I learned this.
Magnaflow out flows Dynomax. Saleen use to use Dynomax mufflers on theire cars and exhausts, they switched because they found Magnaflow flowed better.

Well i have a GS, so those points you made about the mufler wont work for the non-turbo. And magnaflow works better? why does dynomax cost more if its not better?

Benzs cost a lot but there build quality sucks, it's a proven fact.

Just because something costs more moeny then something else doesn't mean it's better.
I know people running Magnaflows for quite some time with no problems. They sound great too.

Actually I have raced a GST with a magnaflow muffler and stock exhaust, it sounded PIMP! It was really deep and not raspy at all for a 4 banger :thumb: AS far as flow I think the difference is so minimal that its like 0.5 cfms better. It doesnt make a difference that will make a HP difference more than 1 whp.
