Im getting a free 4G63 motor...

my friend just replaced his GVR4 motor and hes giving me his old one for free! nothing really majorly wrong with it but lost compression, anyway i was wondering if anyone knows of some rebuild kits. If someone could point me in that direction it would be helpful... also would i need to do anything to the crank, anything i should know about? i guess i better go and pick up a haynes, does mitsu have any sort of BGB(toyota big green book = repair manual)? thanks in advance, i cant wait to get started on this project

-What year's this 4G63 came out of? If it's a 6 bolt & you want to use 95+ (8.5/1) piston, need to machine the connecting rods to fit the piston.

-Mitsu's manual set was $65. a CDROM version of the same manual + some extra tips for ~$30(?).

its a 92....i would think that someone make 8.5/1 aftermarket pistons, should i use stock rods? im not gonna be over 450hp, well at least my plans arent to be over that much

Engine rebuild Kits? Uhm. No-one. It's an itty bitty 4 cylinder.

There are tons of aftermarket piston manufactures with a bunch of different compression ratios: Ross, Wiseco, JE, Arias, etc.

As far as rebuilding. New bearings, new rings, get the block worked over, new water pump, new head gasket and ARP head studs, get rid of the balance shafts, and you are ready to assemble. No it's not quite that easy but close.

Not true. I found these two a few months ago when I was looking to rebuild my 4g63. I cannot personally recommend either, I used a different course of action on my motor instead of basic rebuilding.
