Yeah....i know its been asked, but i want a specific answer/advice for my setup

I just got a 91tsi, finally found a mostly stocker :thumb: , so i can work with it. So far, free mods, intake, ported 14b turbo, ported exh mani, ported O2 housing, MBC, UICP/LICP on the way. I am going to be getting exhaust in the next few weeks, and I am trying to figure out what to do as exhaust goes. I come from a land of 5.0 V8's and i am a newb with turbos haha. So, 2.5" or 3" downpipe/catback system?? My friend says 3" will give me way too much boost creep with the ported stuff i have already, but I have no idea. I will be keeping the cat on the system, so that will keep some backpres. i assume. For now, the only thing i plan to do as far as upgrading the turbo is, when the current needs a rebuild, or i just get bored, is to put a 16g compressor in the 14b housing....but who knows...could get bored and just buy a b16g in the future too...

but for now haha, im mainly concerned with the boost creep issue with the current setup. Suggestions?? Think it will be bad? There seem to be mixed opinions on the searches i did. Thanks! :D

Hey Joey,

Check out my mods list. I have everything ported from the Head to the turbo. I also have an RNR 3" O2 eliminator downpipe and full 3" stainless steel high flow cat and cat back exhaust. I get ZERO boost creep with my setup. the car starts spooling around 2600rpm and I have full boost by 3500rpm steady at 14psi from there to 6650 when my auto trans upshifts..

You can go with 2.5" exhaust if you are only planning on stage one mods, say around 300 crank HP. But if you think that you'll want more than that, get the 3" exhaust, so you don't have to pay for it twice...

3 inch hands down:thumb: You'll regret going with the 2.5 inch, everyone does. And forget the cat, go testpipe (huge difference:)

Ok, 3" sounds good :thumb: Just needed some advice about the boost creep!! Yeah I know when I had my mustang, i took the cats off and it made a difference on there. But i was thinking of keeping the cat on the Tsi, for emissions....of course i could just throw the cat on before inspection then too eh? haha hmmmm.....
How do the DSMs sound with a test pipe? I know my friend is running a civic w/o cats and i think it sounds like crap..real raspy and loud...but I also think it's his exhaust haha....

Joey,

I live in the trenton area, about 40 min from Philly.. If you want to hear what my car sounds like with a full 3" exhaust plus high flow cat i'll meet you somewhere like Franklin Mills outlet in bensalem so you can hear my car idle and rev...

PM me or post here and let me know if your interested.
