was up guys its about that time for me to take my head alittle further, well alot further. i currantly have a mild ported and polished head, that is a 2g head. now i know that if you keeping the head unported that the 1g is better because of the bigger intake ports. but what about when i wanna do something like a stage 3 head, i was looking at slowboy and bj heads and i dont know if there 1g or 2g. what is better when it comes down to porting because if i could just take my head off and rebuild it and it will flow the best then ill do so but if a 1g head will do better then slowboy it is.

can anyone tell me witch one is better when you start to port thanks.

From what I hear, the 1g head is better than the 2g in stock form but when it comes to porting there is actually more available space to be had on the 2g head. Either one I'm sure will do the job but if you already have a 2g head might as well use it. Thats what I'll do when the time comes.....

You're gonna get a lot of mixed opinions on this. My advice would be to call the specialty shops and go with what you feel best about. Buschur for example, will not do a 2g head because they feel so strongly that the 1g head is so proven and unlimied in its flow. I think it can be done well on either it really comes down to who's doing the porting. Its very easy to screw up a good head.

ya ive heard so many diffrent things on this. im thinking the 1g head would be better sense the intake manifold ports are already bigger so this is less work you have to do when your porting. i plan on just buying a stage 3 head from either slowboy or bj im sure what ever they give me will do its work

Due to the size of the ports on each, I heard the 1g head is better for top end and the 2g is better for torque.

High flow bench numbers don't always make the highest HP numbers in the real world. Flowbenchs don't stimulate the open and closing events of a valve or the movement of a piston.
Large port volume doesn't necassirly mean the most power. You have to take into account port velocity also.
