Hey, I just installed a boost gauge (autometer) and I tapped into the fuel pressure solinoid. I started the car, and nothing, it didnt respond at all, do i need to let it sit a little while before it starts to work? I havnt hooked up the light wires, does that make a difference? Any help would be awesome.

My buddy has to go into boost before it starts reading.

I'm Sorry to hear that your friend's Autometer sux, but i installed mine myself and reads completely accurate. The Vacuum and the Pressure are both accurate on the car. Maybe he didn't tap the right line or what not, but don't say that autometer sux just cuz ur buddy's doesn't work properly. And to answer the original question, No, your car should not have to warm up for it to work, when it is not reading boost, it will sit at zero, otherwise when your car is started it will go into the vacuum portion at about 15-20 then boost when you push on the gas, on a stock setup for the 1g, it should go to right around 10 at 3/4 throttle, and 11 at full throttle.

i got it workin, i tapped the wrong hose. can someone explain the vacuum portion of the gauge i dont really know what it means and what not, also, whats the max psi for a 1g?

mine works flawlessly...your buddy probably doesnt have it hooked up right/has a leak

ive had a autometer boost gauge for a year, and ive had no problems.i always hear that autometer suck, but ive had no problems.

hmmm, how about this, i plan to run 15 psi, on a completely stock car. I'll tell you how it goes by the end of the week.
From everything i've been hearing, as long as your car is in good tune, then you should be able to run anywhere from 15-17 safely. Make sure you check your oil regularly and what not.

explain the vacuum portion of the gauge i dont really know

an engine is a pump, it suck in air and blows it out the back end, so vacuum is when the pistons are sucking in alot of air, so that it creates a vacum in your manifold, a less than atmospheric pressure situation

I have been running about 15 to 16 PSI all the time and i ahve a stock car pretty much except a boost controller and catback exhaust i have had no problem with that at all i think youll be fine

Well it DOES work perfectly, BUT you have to go into boost before it gets off of 0. After it goes into boost THAN it will go into vacuum. It goes way down in vacuum so I doubt it is a boost leak.

well what should i be looking for when reading the vacuum portion, like what should it be at, what shouldnt it be at, that kind of stuff.

ya i have a BlitZ gauge and it measures metric.... it works great, i guess my question is... how much vaccuum should i really expect... i mean it mostly reads 2 little slashes before -1bar. (1 bar being around 14psi) .... anyone get 14psi of vaccuum???

I have had automters for years now.
I had the expensive ones too.

They work the same it just your opinions on look and how deep you pocket is.
Plus some jof the more expensive one have play back feature and peak hold.

I finally bought DELFI setup for my car. Because i like the play back feature.

I good to make sure your fuel pressure rise the same as your boost.
