I have an SBR stage 1, 6-bolt block.I was doing some reading on the vfaq page about balance shafts, and i was wondering about the rear bearing. It says it should be a block off bearing, but the pic on the page shows the bearing with the oil hole in it. MD103722 is the part number for the rear bearing, is that the block off bearing? Also do i need to put those bearings in the belt driven balnce shaft i did not see that in the vfaq. Because it is going in my 95 TSi FWD and i only have my old pump and a new one with no shafts in it. Thanks for the input
 
Don't confuse rear bearing & INNER front bearing. On a 4G63 You can roll the old Inner Front Bearing - or a new one - on an axis - where the oil hole doesn't match up with the hole in the block on the FRONT balance shaft - thereby "blanking" the oil port off the main oil galley that feeds the front balance shaft bearing - that is MANDATORY on a 4G63 IF you remove the FRONT shaft. Most guys use a big socket or the old POS shaft as a driver to remove - & reinstall - the rotated Inner Front Bearing. Don't forget to plug the hole in the Timing cover with a short bolt, washer & RTV where the old POS balance belt tensioner went or you'll have a mess.

The rear shaft on a 4G63 is oil fed via the balance shaft (it's hollow) via the oil pump - there is NO oil hole in the rear bearing. You will replacing that rear balance shaft with the stubby shaft from a 1.6 Mirage motor of course.

BTW mine runs great since this mod - a small vibration in the steering wheel at idle - above that nothing - I can't believe they put all that BS on these motors for absolutely nothing of any true value...

What is an SBR Stage 1, 6-Bolt block BTW?
