I had some issues with my upper/lower pipes poping off, so we used some jb weld and made beads around each pipe and cleaned them real nice. So now they arent popping off. However for whatever reason once i punch it and get around 4000rpms the car starts bucking or studdering. Do you think im leaking boost or what? The sleaves arnt popping off or anything so I dont see how that could be. Ive played with the BOV (greddy type s) making it tight and loose and it still does the same thing. Also, my friend said the turbo seems to be spooling WAY too quickly..it doesnt sound quite normal...sounds a little too dramatic too soon. Any suggestions? Thanks

I would say boost leak under higher psi, so that you run rich and studder. Happened to me, I thought my pipes were on good, but upon closer inspection it was only half on there. The coupler was too short.

You think resetting the ECU would do anything? Cause i put a K&N filter along with upper and lower aluminum piping on and havent done the reset on the ECU yet. Or is it just about the leaking boost?

Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge? If so how much boost are you running? I ask because it sounds like fuel cut to me. Your turbo is not spooling to quickly, it is stock that is what they do. Do yourself a favor and don't listen to your friend.

I dont have a boost guage yet, so i dunno what boost its running.....and i dont think its fuel cut cause ive only changed the intake filter and the piping...it was running fine before i put all that on

Well then it is most likely a boost leak, but your PSI will go up a little with upgraded IC pipes. It should not go up enough to cause fuel cut though. I would just build a pressure tester and find the leak that way. If you do not know how to build one or don't know what I am talking about go to Vfaq.com and look under the Intake section. There is a write up on how make a pressure tester.

I had a similar problem after installing my UICP and 1G BOV. My car just sputtered and bucked after I turned up the boost a little. I thought it was a boost leak, but it turned out to be bad plugs. I check my plugs if I were you. Could also be plug wires.

Well im almost certain its gotta be a boost leak. Cause i didnt have any of these problems until i put on the upper and lower IC piping. I just dont know where its leaking from and why. I am also putting out a good bit of black smoke out of the exhaust when i push it hard and change gears, which i thought was a sign of a boost leak.

And its not only just bucking while in high boost, there is a popping sound comming from the intercooler area as well. The sleaves arent popping off tho.

Definitly a boost leak.

Go over all your connections and triple check and re-tighten them.

You could go to www.vfaqs.com and make an Intake leak tester via there instructions. It comes in very handy for finding leaks like this.

Thanks...ill give that a try

Just a thought....could it be the way i set up my BOV? Its a greddy type S....the way i have it set up is the little Y connector they give you with the bov is connecting the wastegate hose and the hose from the boost solenoid..then of course the other one is going to the lower pipe thing on the BOV.

Then I have the hose from the intake manifold going to the top pipe on the BOV (pretty sure that part is right)

I agree that a pressure test should be the first thing you should check, here's the link on making a pressure testing device from the vfaq: http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html
If you find that you don't have any leaks then there is a good chance that your problem may be fuel cut. I had a similar setup (intake filter, IC piping and a bov along with the freebies) and I was pushing 17psi, enough to cause some fuel cut at WOT. Also a word to the wise an after market boost gauge is essential at this point, as you probably already know that stock one isn't good for much of anything. If for whatever reason that doesn't seem to help it couldn't hurt to look at your plugs and wiring. Good luck.

Check your plugs and wires. My car did this after i put upgraded wires on with the Bosch plugs. I switched out the plugs to ngk and it works fine.
Hope this helps
