Edmonton,
Roadrace says that thier big16G uses the same compressor housing as a normal 16G and extreme says thiers is a slightly larger "TD05H" compressor housing. Are these differant Big16's or or are the compressor housings really the same?

And after porting and clipping the exhaust wheel 10 degrees roadrace has a Big16g for less than extreme does, but extreme says that they spin balance the turbo as a unit along with the compressor wheel and shaft. Thats not mentioned with roadrace. What is spin balancing and does roadrace do it even though it isnt mentioned?

RRE does balance there turbos, they just don't find it necissary to advertise it as a selling point.

Any turbo, new or rebuilt is balanced -- otherwise the turbo would explode at 100,000+ RPM (I've seen it happy... not pretty)

Also, I don't know if it would be good to clip a 16g. If you want better top end, go with a bigger turbo. Clipping a 16g just isn't a good idea from what I've seen on "other" cars.

i agree to a point, a buddy has a TRE big 16g thats clipped, in theory it should help top end flow thats where i do agree, but in real life it made no difference at all on that turbo top end, but the bottom end lacked cause of it.

Definately... if you want top end, get a 20g, Green, L1, L1R, L2 or L2R...... those all have much better top end over a 16g.

From what I've read, the L1R should spool pretty damned well, faster then a 20g..... as soon as a 16g? (not sure)..... but have a little more top end then a 20g.

As far as 16g's go... IMO they feel like a stock turbo with power up top, unlike a T25....
