a dumb mitsu tech???

when i first got my tsalon i took it to a mitsu dealership and had them run a diagnostic on it. one of the things that they found was the idle speed sensor was out of order, i needed to replace it. then i learned some stuff about the bov, and i realised, hmmmm, mine is venting to the atm, i wonder if the tech saw that? maybe that is causing the trouble code?

I wouldn't think so, to my knowledge there is nothing (sensor wise) that would cause a flag from the BOV venting to the atmosphere.

the code itself is the ECU saying there is something wrong with the coils in the ISC -- it has nothing to do with a vented bov.


Welcome to the world of ISC failure....... I'm on my third... and a few locals are in the same situation.

What would happen if you leaked or accidently vented a 2g BOV into the atmo? Say the hose came off?

I think satan will try and charge you about $175 for bew ISC coils (but I think that is just for the part, of course they are going to make this five minute job take an hour so they can rape you on labor).

Mitsu doesn't sell "just" the ISC coils... trust me, I've tried.


You can buy the ISC itself, which is about $250-350 depending on what the local mitsu dealer gives you for a discount.

Other option is go to a local junk yard, and get one. Just be sure to do the ohm test on it prior to paying for it -- to make sure it's good.

... ohm test spec can be found at www.vfaq.com under misc. then I beleive stalling problems.... they get into an ISC ohm test where there are 4 different coils you test..... I'm too lazy to look for the exact URL right now.
