London,
Hey guys i might be doing an engine swap before i get on to my serisous mods. I'm interested in the buschur stage 3 shortblock. All i wanted to know is does it come with forged pistons and forged rods? Beacause if it does, i won't haave to rebuild the engine before i do a 20G turbo swap.... thanx in advance...

You do not "need" to rebuild it, as long as your engine is in good shape. Many people have ran 20G and bigger turbos on stock motors with 100k+ miles and did that very well.

But BR stage 3 block does come with forged pistons and rods. I am not sure what brand they are using right now.

hey guys if i got the BR Stage 3 block, water injection, a 20G andi ran 20 psi of boost on it with 93 octane gas, wouild that be dangerous??????????

It will only be dangerous if you do it on a street with 25-30mph speed limit :).

Seriously, I have been running 18-20psi of boost on the street for years now, with out any problem. And I am not using water injection. I can only immagine it being better with the water injection.

Just watch you knock and you will be all set.

With the correct fuel and ignition timing not at all. Many people have been able to get 20psi on 93 octane without knocking and no wi. To be real safe you can tune to the ragged edge on pump gas (if you lean it out 2% it knocks) and then turn on the water injection on afterwards as a safeguard. No worry about a bad tank of gas or slight weather changes causing problems.

ohhhh, do u guys think i realllly need forged pistons and rods? my motor has 70 000 miles on it, would it be dangerours to run 20psi with a 20G turbo on a STOCK motor with water injection?

Do you even read our replies?

Lets see if I can make more clear:

YOU DO NOT NEED FORGED PISTON AND/OR RODS TO DO THAT!

70k is nothing on a well maintained well built 4G63. And he answered your questions. Twice. If you aren't going to accept his answers, why ask the question?

Let me repeat it for you.

You don't need anything aftermarket to run 20 psi on a 20g as far as the block is concerned. No forged pistons, no rods, nothing. Stock. If your engine is in good shape. And that has nothing to do with mileage. You can have a trashed 10,000 mile engine because someone beat the crap out of it and never took care of it. Or you can have a 150,000 mile engine running 11's. Yes its been done.

well then hwo am i supposed to know if my engeine is in that good of condiiton? it runs fine now, but i don't know how it'll run with the 20G on 20psi, how can i tell if my engenin is in good enough condidiotn?

Compression check, maintanance record and does it use any oil?
70k is nothing on a DSM motor.
