Broke a Universal Joint - Driveshaft Q's

$9 for the part, took a little while to pull the driveshaft off and replace it.

The driveshaft is steel, and HEAVY. Do they make an aluminum one?

-Not sure about the aluminum but I saw one-piece carbon fiber shaft the other day, it goes from the transfer case to the read dif.

Sounds like you bought a u-joint from the local parts store if you only paid 9 bucks. Those are very weak. There is a good chance you will eaisily break that one if you already broke one. MB154554. That is the part number for the u-joint kit (spider kit) from the dealer. It is more money, but it is a much better part.

driveshaftshop.com does make an aluminum driveshaft. Check them out. Email Frank. he's a nice guy.
