was up guys i know everything about these too all i need you to do is vote and let me know if u think i should go with the dsm link or the afcII. im looking for 11's with my agp 50 trim turbo. either way im using a gm maft also so keep that in mind. thanks

vote for dsmlink times 748390497102894790132470912374031284701239. Just get a real ecu logger instead of a pigback thing.

Someone did just tell you. And if that isn't enough, feel free to do a search on here. dsmlink vs (insert piggyback here) +crappy OBD2 logger has been covered numerous times before.

Here is a thread that covers dsmlink vs some piggybacks, near the end of the thread.

You need to read up on DSMlink a bit more, you can save and load settings as you please.

The whole "AFC or DSMlink" question is like asking should I bring a gun to a knife fight? Its apples and oranges comparison, the DSMlink does things that the AFC dreams of doing.
www.dsmlink.com

Just compare what it can do versus the AFC setup. :D

If I read their site correctly, DSMLink, 97's need to buy a new ECU so that it can be socketed via the EPROM. Did I read it right, or?

No you read it wrong. 96- will need to buy an ECU, used, so that it can be socketed FOR the EPROM. But other than that, pretty close ;)

Does that piss anyone else off....? They make version2 and say that its specifically for 2nd gen dsm's, but only the 2nd gens with an EPROM ECU? I mean WTF, you think they would have worked something out so that when they say specifically designed for 2nd gen, it encompasses all 2nd gen. Its like saying,"We've just invented this state of the art upgrade for your dsm!! However, the bad news is it only works on shite brown dsm's with leaky gaskets and a hula girls on the dash...!!?" That pisses me off, that pisses me right off!

Maybe you should sell them the correct microprocessors with built in eprom, so that they can modify the others? Thats why its only available for the version with an external EPROM, because thats the only one they can access the code on. The other ones are impractical to modify, because they'd need to find the right microprocessor(very difficult to do), figure out how to program it, then find someone to remove/install them, which would cost a LOT of money. As it is now, it works on all 2G DSMs, you just need the right ECU to make it work:thumb: There's just no pleasing some people...

God damn...you don't get it do you? Don't waste your money on an AFC...I almost did, a couple times...and I'm glad I didn't.

DSMLink can do WAY more than an AFC dreams of doing. And about having a high and low setting, for different gases/boost. Well if you wanted you could have 457544465745135465551651 different settings with DSMLink for any different application...such as change in ambient air temp (went from 40 to 60 outside) or different boost levels (12,13,14,14.5,15,16,17,18,18.5,19,19.5........) you can save your settings for any different application. I personally don't save my settings, I just write them down. Cause I tune the car just right for my max amount of performance on pump gas...then when I get around to it, I'll tune it for my max performance on race gas. Then I'll just swap settings between the two.

I'm not worried about ambient air temps.

hey 13secgst i am for sure going with the dsmlink after what u said about how u could make and store the diffrent settings. for now till next summer im staying with the afc and gm maft sense i dont drive my car in the winter but first thing when it gets nice out dsmlink will be on its way

Apex-i S-AFC II is to Timmy ( South Park ) as Lance Armstrong is to DSMlink. Get it??? :D

But really, in the end you'll want the DSMlink. I was talked out of the AFC and once I get the bling for a DSMlink, I know I will have made the correct choice.

Bling = $$$. ;)

You have to send your eprom ecu to them to have it socketted and then they send it back ( turnaround is about 1 day ) to you with the cables and software. The software works on a laptop ( which allows adjustments ) and palmpilots also ( for datalogging I believe ). I am quoting their site though, so go check it out. I read it 3 times I was so excited. :D
