O.K. guys, my precious "fpbig T28" is arriving next week and i wonder if anyone of you guys can help me get an instruction how to install it. $200 bucks is a bit much for me....(dont you guys think? oh, that is plus the fuel pump)
...i am so excited about this whole thing:laugh: i cant wait!

...this board is awesome!!! have a good day everyone!

Pay close attention when you are removing your stock turbo as the Big28 will be a "direct" replacement. It will fit exactly like the stock turbo.

uhhm, i could probably do the swapping turbo, but isnt there like a part that i have to lubricate the new turbo? like something have to do with the ignition? thats the part that am a little uncomptable with, and i think this is going to be my major problem if i proceed putting it on my self.
...man, looks like am gonna have to pay the labor.....:(

Are you talking about pre-lubeing the turbo? If so... You disconnect the triangular shaped connector to the ignition. It has an oval triangular shape to it. "ROUNDED" Unplug it and then proceed to crank over your engine three to four times for about 10 sec,. That way oil gets lubricated through out the turbo without any combustion. It will take alot of life out of a brand turbo without doing so! It's not good!

i think what u are talking about is priming the turbo. there is really nothing to it. just disconnect your injector wire plugs, so you don't flood the motor while doing this. crank you engine about 5 times or so. i did this like 3 times i think. anyways....this puts oil through the turbo, so that when u start the car, the turbo doesn't lock up on u  .

I'm suprised that FP didn't send instrustions to you on how to do it, when you ordered the Big28. When I ordered mine about 7 months ago, it came with instructions. It's not that big of a deal to acomplish though. Just don't ruin your starter in the process.

Heh, I didn't get any instructions LOL. Anyhow, about the hardest part of the whole swap in my opinion is removing the oil lines. Did you order all the gaskets and stuff for the swap from them? Besides that, its pretty much a cakewalk. It would be best if you did have someone helping you. That way you don't have to remove the manifold and you or someone can hold the turbo up to it and the other person can bolt it on.

i didnt get any instructions either.. come to think of it I woulda greatly paid 200 bucks to install the fuel pump and turbo.. heh I can do it without batting an eye now but what a pita back then

It's very easy to change but the mani and o2 houseing bolts are a b!tch. I say it's easy becuse i've done it before but once you do it you'll say the same thing. My install should be a snap I even have left over bolts for the o2 housing

i had a crosstreaded manifold bolt on mine, so that was the hardest part. Also i would suggest if you hadnt already to either get a ported 2g o2 housing or a evo o2 housing and change it while you have the turbo off it will be much easier that way

o.k. first of all.. i'de like to say that you guys are awesome! thanks for all the help and opinion. so i decided to install it my self.
....but regarding the ported exhaust manifold, do you guys think that i can break into 13's without porting my manifold and O2 housing? will i have a problem? i mean i have the complete stage 1(machV & buschur) setting done.
when i run my car with the t-25 and stock fuel pump i ran 14.6s. so what do you guys think?

i've seen it done before, but i would recommend that you go ahead and get the porting done...eventually you will probably end up doing it, so why not do it now.

well, am kind of in a budget. i probly not gonna have the manifold and the o2 housing till october so am just gonna let my setting as it is till then. so i am hoping that i can break into 13's when i have my new turbo.

there is a guy here with a spyder, that used to have a big28...he ran like a 13.9 at 107mph with ported 02 and manifold. another gst ran like a 13.5 or something with the same mods on DR's.

"Patience is a Virtue", something like that. Listen to these guys cause they know what they are saying. The turbo will spool alot better and you will save time and money. Just take off your exh. mani and o2 pipe, which you should do anyways, and take it to a place and have it ported or better yet port it yourself. Doing that will make the turbo perform like it really should.
Been there, done that! ;)
Peace

wow, man...i guess am gonna have to get the ex.mani and the O2 housing ported to get to 13's based on those times that TurboeclipS said huh. well, that will be my next goal.....port!

again you guys have been so helpfull. i greatly appreciate it! :D

wrong wrong
yes it would b smart to port them now while they r out but not necessary to run 13s! trust me on this, i have a couple people who ran low 13's-high 12's on stock o2 housings...if u have the money do it, if not dont lose sleep over it

i wouldnt worry to much about porting the exhaust manifold becuz then the turbo would need to be ported as well, I would port the o2 housing though but not for performance, to keep it from creeping

My Big28 wasn't ported, but my mani and O2 were. I don't think it was hurting my performance, but I know it would have been faster if it was ported. At the time, I was still new to the whole Mod Thing and had never installed something which I thought was as complicated as a turbo. It's really not all that hard as far as the install goes. But anyhow, do yourself a favor and just go buy a dremel type tool and port it before you put the thing on because your going to want it ported later on, trust me :) . It's not all that hard, a good reference is porting it to match the gasket. Someone correct me if i'm wrong here, but that's what I did.

i got a BIG tool, i wouldnt even call it a dremel...got it from sears for $40 i think and a bit set for like $10...this thing is huge and has mucho power...its a AC Trim Rotary Cutter i would recommend it for the price

I think an electric die grinder is what you're lookin for... all the major tool companies like DeWalt, Snap-On, Mac Tools, etcetc make one. You can get one fairly cheap for your needs... Harbor Freight carries them online if you're too lazy to shop in the stores. Same $40 + 10 mentioned before should have you porting away in no time.
