hey fellas i know this has been asked before but i really need your help. well i currently own a fwd talon and its slightly modded but i would not mind an awd. the problem is that well i can only afford one car right now so should i go all out on my fwd or should i sell my fwd and see if i can get an awd, but the problem is that ive come this far with my fwd do you guys think its worth modding my fwd.would going all out on my car be worth it?i really want my car to be a beast in the highway and on the track too.anybody got any tips to make my fwd a beast? i would really appriciate your comments/help you guys have been really helpfull ever since i got my dsm and any help would be appriciated. thanks, later!

A fwd can make a good track car it just takes some extra work. I say get a good suspension set up(like real good) and some slicks and you would be good for the track. Also maybe a turbo that spools a little slower than normal so that you don't hit full boost like a sack of bricks and break the tires loose in everygear. But ill let the fwd experts come in here and give their advice.

I always start with the best platform I can afford. I'd get a AWD and swap your mods too it, then sell the FWD. Better launch, traction coming off corners, slick roads, etc. 1G AWD's are still pretty cheap.

If you like to highway race then FWD is good cause you won't spin the tires on the highway that much anyways.

The other thing that is fun is tearing the tires off FWD through 4 gears when you have lots of power. I always enjoyed doing that it brought a smile to my face in my FWD cars. And who can resist the all 1st shift into 2nd with the E-brake up burn out across parking lots smoking the tires all the way? Again somethig you can only do in FWD.

If you get slicks and run a stiff suspension in the rear you can pull 1.7 60ft's in a FWD car with ease (with some practice of course, but still not that hard) and run good numbers at the track.

The only time your at a dis-advangate is at a set of lights beside an AWD or RWD car. If you make enough HP you can catch up down the road anyways or just tease them and punch it once your rolling. I always made up the distance with RWD cars in my FWD by messing with people's minds or launching really slow outta the hole then flooring it.

thanks alot fellas, i expected all you awd guys to bash on me for being a fwd but was i wrong you are really cool. as a matter a fact all who posted are awd owners. i really appriciate that. i guess thats what being a dsmtuners member is all about, we all work together to help eachother make our cars monsters.so should i keep my fwd and go all out or go awd? or do you think my fwd can pull thru?now my question is what kind of turbo would i need to really make some hp? i was thinking between the 50trim,20g,and the FP green.what do you guys think?i really wanna be able to pull at least low 12s for now.there arent many talons where i live so i wanna be able to turn some heads and smoke some v8s that way they dont now what hit them. i really appriciate your help fellas, thanks!

Depends on if youre FWD or AWD. If you stick with FWD you need a slower spooling turbo, or a much smaller one. Unless you want to sit there spinning your wheels. Either less power or lag. I'd go AWD, and get 50 trim or so, quick spool, lots of power. But thats just me.

look onlky bad or inexperienced drives cant handle 2wd with torque. Fwd is faster due to wieght awd easier to drive, if u learn how to drive fwd can be just as much if not more fun than awd. ultimatly fwd will go faster will slightly less mods as well. Look if you stick with it fwd can be as easy to drive as awd, I went from a 15 sec civc toa stock 14 sec dsm and it only took me 2 runs to figure out hiow to drive fwd with but loads of torque.

The only true way to tell is to drive awd and compare. Good luck with your choice.

damn i thought more fwders would have replied to this thread by now. Anyway i say keep the car you have bro. From experience selling your car and buying a new one is a pain in the ass. YOu have to deal with stupid people that want to come look at your shit, they get you all excited only to let you down, and you have to pay taxes registration and get your car smoged when you buy a new one. As for turbo I don't know which one specificaly to recomend but deffinately one that spools slower. Also just like dsmeclipse4g63 said its all about driver skill, it might take some practice but once you get a hang of driving it you can launch good and not let the poeple have the jump on you. I used to have a fwd and it took me a while to completly master the art of launching in a fwd but it didn't take me that long to get pretty damn good at it. I could hang with my friends auto 454ss truck out of the whole so fwd can deffinately be used for drag racing.

hey thanks alot fellas! i really appriciate the help. i think i will keep my fwd and make a highway and track monster out of it.im glad you guys has such possitive advise for me.joining dsmtuners was one of my best decisions i ever made.i will keep you guys updated on my progress.as far as turbo should i get the 50trim or the FP 20g or go for the FP green?what would be my best choice? fuel wise should i get the walbro 190 or the 255?thanks for all your help guys!

for those turbos def. 255 warlboro. Im getteing a big 16g or something along those lines...but it all depends on how far u wanna take ur car. good luck

IF your car is runnin good then keep it. THere arent many AWDs out there(atleast around here!!) and the condition may not be as good yours. I would get the 20g(my personal choice( just because I like the mitsubishi turbos:dsm: .

I hate FWD and would change it for AWD any day. I am moderately modded with a big 16g, not only do i have traction issues in first gear, 2nd gear spins pretty damn bad as well. Not to mention I havent even turn the boost up pass 18 psi. When you start making some real power on a FWD system, there is just no traction.

Tires, suspension, and so on will give a little bit better traction but your FWD car will never launch like a AWD. Personally I would sell the FWD and get a AWD.

boostineklipse ur right a fwd will never launch like an awd will...but it will always have better top end and along with that will be faster with similar mods.

theres no fwds around here that can run with my lightened AWD. its just a matter of putting the car on a diet.
