Q: about a Gst Eclipse

How much Hp would a '97 ? Gst Eclipse have ?...with a (supposivly) fully built motor with a Gt25 Hks turbo pumping 18lbs of boost?
A guy was telling me about his car, and got me interested about hearing from you guys hear at this board what this setup really has.
Anyone have a simular setup? Or can you just guess HP and ruff estimate track times for me...
any info you have would be great thanxs.

I wish i could tell you more..but this is all i know about this car. He made it just seem like he had every bolt on, intercooler, Gt25 Hks Turbo, down pipe...stuff like that. I think he said boost started to kick in at like 3k...and he spins it all the way to 9.5k.
What would a basic GST Eclipse with that turbo and that intercooler have power wise? How about yours what mods do you have ? what kind of Hp? Track times? Thanks

just telling us what turbo it has is hardly enough to make any type of estimate of hp, much less a track time, on a gst drivetrain mods mean alot more then power mods when your talking about 1/4 times, having a good LSD front diff and a good clutch could make a difference as big as a second over a completly stock drivetrain on a fwd dsm with an upgraded turbo
we would need to know things about the fuel system, the supporting mods the car has, how its tuned, what kind of fuel its run on, ect

for example, plenty of people have went with a 16g set up and cant get anywhere near 375 bhp with it, others have been able to surpass that number with proper mods and tuning
even if you could tell us every single part thats on the car we still wouldnt be able to make an accurate estimate due to how much difference tuning makes on a turbo car

Everything you said makes perfect since But could you give like a low guess on hp..and a high guess?
I am a club member on Norcal-Ls1 ...and we get newbies to the site that have asked the same type of question like this once in awhile...and usually people that have that motor with simular mods can give a Good guess compared to other people that have gone that route with simular mods to there car, even if they dont have every little detail they can still give impute based on your main power adders. I'm not saying you should go by exactly what the person tells you...But it can give you a figure, or certain hp range to expect. Thats all i would like to have.
One more thing, i'm sure it will sound dumb to you but can you explain the 16g setup? I dont really too much about Mitisu's but am curious about them.

It's much easier to guestimate HP on an N/A motor with a few mods than it is to do so on a 4-cyl that has MANY mods that all need to be tuned JUST RIGHT to get a car to run to its full potential.

And HKS GT25 doesn't tell us everything about that turbo. There are 5 versions of HK$ GT25 turbos:
GT2510 - 300PS
GT2530 - 320PS
GT2535 - 340PS
GT2540 - 350PS
GT2540R - 370PS
(Why anyone would pay $2300 for a 365HP turbo is beyond me.)

These are all probably maximum values, at sea level with a professionally tuned car with all of the supporting modifications. PS is metric HP, 1PS = .99HP, so 370PS is about 365HP

Unless he has nitrous you'll probably walk him, if he's wanting to race you.

only guy i know of with an eclipse and a HKS gt25 in california is thomas at RG-S. he also has "a fully built 7 bolt" blah blah....

if its the guy hes not much faster than my 16g without frontmount and a stock motor. he wont be able to touch you 1/4th mile..topend he would kill you id imagine though

I'm gonna give the guy the benifit of the dubt here.. he is supposivly sponcered by a shop around Orange county L.A ,so i am gonna assume he has his shit together... he is my ex girlfriends b.f . It all started as a friendly conversation with her when i heard him talking car stuff in the back fround and asked her what he drove...that when the crap started..she just kept swearing that no matter what i had done to my camaro it wasnt gonna beat him...i said i would drive the 8 hours to go there just to prove her wrong...then she was like he only races for money etc.. so he said i'll run you for 1g..i was like hell yeah..i'll make alittle money too. sweet.
So i am basically doing some research right now to see how fast it should be about. Trying to see what i got myself into with this guy.

My car is setup for freeway racing..342 gears(really tall)...6spd.....i spin to 7k(high for a LS1)... I put down 448rwhp, and 432tq ... and i got a 100 dry shot on it...I top out around 180ish..wont go any futher because my aeros suck and the car shakes like popcorn in a microwave...
I have pulled on a couple heavily modded supras so i am not to worryed about this eclipse...but i am very curious how good of a race it would be. Or would i just clown this guy. That s why i am asking about all of this.
I didnt post this part because i wasnt sure if your site condoned streetracing or not..if it doesnt sorry i wont talk about it. sorry.
But this makes it alittle more interesting to know why i am asking about the eclipse

The guys car is running 18lbs boost with that turbo and intercooler etc.
We are gonna run from a 50mph roll to like 140 unless i completely dust him or vice versa
how good of a run would that be?

shop in orange county aye? whose the guy seriously tell me....there is no good eclipse shop in orange county, i have more tools in my garage than most of the rice shops around here. you have to go north to road race generally.

i know sure as hell sam at SRT didnt sponsor him. that leaves what? jeff @ import builder and hes honda only....uh xsengineering wouldnt put a hks turbo on a car.

never seen any hooked up eclipses at rpm other than the reflection of mine driving by.

area51 closed down..leaving thomas at RG-S...who i KNOW has a GT25, i have his card right here

anyway...sam at SRT has a regeared transam and like uh ya the LS1 motor owns....

he killed me so bad it was disgusting, a dsm would need atleast the same amount of hp to kill a rear geared car like yours and if you do even minor searching on this forum you will realize most people never really ever break 350hp.

If you're actually going to drive 8 hours for this, I'd say the "clown" part of the question is answered before an engine's started.

Yeah the clown part was answered..it was answered when the said he wanted to race me in his eclipse. But it isnt all about going there to run this guy..its a perfect excuse to see family and friends out there, and have some fun with the money i am gonna take from this guy So it was actually answered before your ass started typing garabe in my thread. thx

I dont believe Defiant was talking any #hit at all. You never said that you had family out there so it seemed in the only reason you were driving 8 hours was to race somebody. So settle down and dont act like a prick, next time explain the situation more fully.

im giving you the advantage, say 5:1 odds on you. if the guy has enough money to throw at an hks turbo though...hmm, on one hand, he has some decent cash, but on the other, he's pretty dumb for buying hks *anything*.
oh, and if you can hit 180 you beat him top end too, cause our cars are only geared for 176 or so at 7500rpm in 5th gear, and there are no gear ratio changes we have, other than maybe bigger diameter tires.
but this is too technical. you will win.
