Ok, here is what I want to do. My 91 Eagle Talon TSi is going through a major upgrade right now, and I need some advice/comments. Here is what I am putting in:

Forced Performance FP-3052 Turbo
Tial 40mm external Wastegate
GM 3.5 MAF set up after BOV, to prevent fuel mixture problems when vented to atmosphere
3" Stainless turbo-back exhaust

Of course, I will have all the supporting mods for this (large fuel injectors, Walbro fuel pump, 800cfm FMIC, etc.)

But here is what I have a question on...what exhaust manifold and O2 housing will let me dump the external wastegate back into the exhaust? I don't want to dump to atmosphere...the emissions test place would love that. I also don't like the noise. I know some places will custom make an O2 housing for this, but that is REALLY expensive. Any one know of a place that makes one that I can just purchase? Preferably 3" stainless?

Also, does anyone have any experience with a setup like this? Any problems to watch out for?

Go with the EVO 3 02 housing and manifold, check out turbo trix or road race engineering for prices, they are not the expensive.

Check out victory performance, they will make one that routes back to the wastegate.

Thanks for the info NOSNUSE, I like the EVO III exhaust manifold and will probably go that route, but the EVO III O2 housing doesn't match what I am looking for, as far as I can tell. I need an O2 housing (or O2 eliminator) that lets me dump a Tial 40mm external wastegate back into the exhaust.

Going with the FP-3052? Can you tell us anything about it? I heard it was the replacement for the 3055 but didn't have any specs yet. Let me know...

R

Yes, I decided to go with the FP-3052. I just ordered it, though, so I don't know have any real performance numbers for you. But I talked with Forced Performance and they told me the FP-3052 has a 4" compressor inlet, flows 52lbs, and produces better power than the FP-3055 on pump gas. The FP-3052 is supposed to replace the FP-3055. As soon as I get everything built up, I'll see if it is worth the money...my guess is, it will be awesome! The whole setup is a little expensive, though.

eh whats the poing of an external gate if you just route it back to the exhaust? j/k.

I use mine to scare kids on the sidewalk.

doesnt the FP-3052(55) use a v-band clamp as an exhaust outlet, that means the evo housing is out of the question.

and the Victory piece will require some modification to make it fit.

I think you have to either fabricate your own stuff or get it from FP.

That's a good call, Kingdom...I was noticing that myself. I have talked with FP about it, and they sell an EVO III housing that they assured me will bolt up to the FP-3052. However, the exhaust outlet from the turbo uses a V-band clamp, so a standard O2 housing will not work...but FP has one with a V-band clamp on one end and a standard 2 hole downpipe connector on the other end. But that O2 housing is only 2.5". Isn't that defeating the purpose of a 3" turbo back exhaust, to have that one 2.5" restriction there?

They make a 3inch housing, but you will need to modify your downpipe a little to make it work.

the 3inch will use the v-band on both the turbo and downpipe.

I dont know about the EVO 02housing bolting up, it is casted and to modify it to make it fit is probably a pita. not really worth it.

maybe they ment the exhuast manifold.

Anyways, doesnt matter, ditch the EVO 02 housing anyways and get the 3inch 02 housing they make. its amazing.

This might not be allowed, but its a good reference. check out the pics in "My Work" section. Its done by Brian Wilson (aka = bingahba) great guy and does amazing work. he works at FP by the way.

Dude, when you build your exhaust just weld the dump tube back into the down pipe

Not sure what the problem is. Stop trying to buy eveything as a bolt on. Buy your manifold with the external gate flange on it not off the turbo. Buy whatever turbo you want. Mount it all together on a bench and install it on your car. Build your downpipe and tack weld it all together. Pull it out and weld your downpipe up first. Then make up your dump tube. 1 1/2 pipe worked great for me and run it down towards the downpipe and have it meet up. Then cut a hole in yoru downpipe and cut an angle out of the dump tube and pull the whole mess out of your car again and weld it on a bench to re-route it back in.

Let it cool completly so it doesn't warp and make sure everyhting is bolted together completly so it will cool in exactly the right position then it will re-route back in. I'll attach a pic so you can see what im talking about. I'm going to cut my dump tube and put a small vband clamp on it so I can cap it off and make an external dump tube. Then I can switch back and forth between internal and external dump and I choose.

This is how I did mine. Just follow the steps above and it will work out nicely. I built this myself and I am no welder by trade so make fun of my welding and I'll kick you in the nutz.

I talked to a guy at the shop yesterday, he found stainless steel flex exhaust pipe sections in 1 1/4". He couldnt find 1" but it's just the wastegate dump so it doesnt matter, should make fabbing much easier.

That is some pimp shit. Still however I like to make up my own stuff. My whole downpipe dump tube and exhaust cost me about $200. I don't do that because I can't afford it, thats not a problem. I do my own stuff beause I enjoy it. I would love to be able to make stuff of that quality, but I don't think it will ever happen, but still I would rather make my own stuff.

Agreed if i had the tools/skill to make my own I would also, Brian's work is out of hand.OMG ill have to down pipe also which is more $$$ every thing is always more $$$$

However I think the price of the FP30xx turbos are very reasonable considering what they are. I paid 1,2XX for the FP 3052 including oil supply and drain lines.:D. don't remember exactly i think its was $1249.

You guys are giving me a hard on.

For reference it can be done. Either way 3"
I can build it for recircuilation:

What is the cost between the two?

Routed Back in:

Dual purpose:

Also is there any i'll effects of the dual? (exhaust leaks, fitment issues, , flow restrictions, boost creep, etc)

anything special needed to route it back in? (Slim line fan's, etc)

I am having my fp3052 installed on the 15th of this month and I went with the 2.5 inch O2 housing because Forced Performance sais right on their web sight that there are little to no power losses with the 2.5 over the 3 inch O2. If you look closely at the two there are less welds in the 2.5 inch anyway. Depending on where you live there should not be a problem with emissions because unless you have a FWD they cannot put your car on the rollers anyway. The noise on the otherhand is understanable. It is definatly not for everyone:D
