Have you ever wondered if your 23 pounds boost was lifting your head? Did you ever wonder if you are changing your oil too often? How about if you are cleaning that K&N often enough?
For the past 30K miles I have been having my oil analyzed by an outfit called Blackstone Labs. There are other places that do this kind of work, but I started with Blackstone and like their service.
Just about every oil change I send in a sample and they look at many aspects of what the sample contains. If I was lifting my head from too much boost I would see antifreeze in the report. If the K&N needed to be cleaned they could detect sand. If I was getting bearing wear they would detect that, too. Most of these things are measured in parts per billion. so when things are starting to get out of wack you have time to react.
Check them out at - http://www.blackstone-labs.com/
No, I don't get paid for this. And there are others out there.
These guys supply the sample return kits for free and send you your results via an email with a pdf file.
Anyone else out there have their oil analyzed? Have any favorite services?
