This is a review of the Hahn Racecraft Front Mount Intercooler kit.
I will also make references to the Greddy "Big" Front Mount
Intercooler kit for comparison. I used to have the Greddy, now
I have the HRC.
Price: HRC FMIC kit is more expensive than Greddy, but I believe
it is worth the extra cost.
Design: HRC FMIC has the crossover tube integrated to the
bottom of the IC core. This design is to help air flow up past
the core and to the radiator. It means that both the in and the
out pipes are on the same side. It is a unique design that seems
to work well.
Durability: The HRC FMIC core seems to be very durable. The
fins don't bend nearly as easily as the Greddy. Overall, the core
weighs a lot more than the Greddy though. I think the extra
weight is worth the extra durability, as rocks and bugs hit the
FMIC regularly. The fins on the Greddy were very flimsy.
Install: The HRC FMIC was the same level of difficulty to install
as the Greddy FMIC. However, the bumper had to be cut a lot
more to fit than the Greddy. Although my bumper was already
cut to fit Greddy, I had to take a lot more off. Both the bumper
and the front bumper cover.
Looks: Both kits look great on the car. They are both about the
same size and they fill up the bumper gap well. The car runs
hotter now, but it does not overheat. I have a stock radiator
and a mixture of about 75% water, 25% coolant.
Packaging: Greddy came in one box, very lightweight, about 20
lbs. HRC came in two seperate boxes. One box contained the
heavy core. The other box contained the piping and clamps.
