Alright guys, ive been putting a lot of performance parts on my Eclipse for approx 3 months now. I have the following mods: Turbo back 3" exhaust, Full I/C piping, Air intake from Dejon Tool, K&N Cone Filter, 1g BOV, MBC, Boost gauge, A/f Mixture gauge, and I think thats it. I have 3000 to spend on the car. I have an Automatic so I am going to have to buy a shift kit and end clutches outta that. I am wanting to run the SBR 20g or maybe the Hahn Super 16g. What do you guys think I need to get into the 12's? And can I get into the 12's with 3000?
 
Yes, if you do the work yourself. Get the tranny stuff and make sure you have room for an AFC and injectors. Then go with the 20g if you want. If you still have any $ left over, get a FMIC, if not, a supra sidemount will be sufficient with race gas.
 
If you're going with a 20G you're going to need a FMIC, injectors, fuel pump, and fuel control of some sort. $3000.......maaaaaaaaaybe
 
You will need a FMIC, injectors and some sort of fuel management as well as a datalogger. Easily attanable w/ 3g's
 
god. do this the easy way. buy a 16g and an afc. then put a torque converter and a 50 shot of nitrous on it. that adds up to around $2000 right there. i guarantee you 12 with that setup. you probably wouldnt even need the gas but who cares? itll be fun:)
 
Yeah I was thinking about nitrous. Maybe I could get the 20g, and put a 50 shot on there. Nitrous would help the auto get off of the line. Thats for sure. This is the list I made up... Tell me if I left anything out.
1.20g turbo
2.Injectors
3.AFPR
4.Intercooler
5.SAFC
6.Pocketlogger
7.Ported Exhaust Manifold
8.Ported O2 sensor housing
9.And possibly the NOS
 
Don't go broke modifying your car. I know its not really my place to give you financial advice but it kills me to see people go broke with their cars. I have friends who have scraped, begged and borrowed money for turbos only to not have any left for a datalogger..then bug me about why their car is slow. Make sure you have money left for the neccesities if you plan on modding your car.

With that said, 3000 dollars is more than enough to buy a decent turbo (1000) injectors (3-400), an AFC (300) a pocketlogger and palm(250), a FMIC (600-1300) and maybe an EGT gauge if you can afford it. it won't buy you tuning knowledge though, so either make friends with someone with a fast car or start reading everything about tuning that you can.
 
My car ran 12.8 with a 14b, stock injectors, a stock SMIC, stock rubber hoses, no SAFC......

Yeah, you can do it. You probably need a replacement for the T-25, and *maybe* injectors, but besides that.... just basic stuff.

Yeah I dont know anything about tuning yet..... It might be a good time to find out while the parts are on its way. Is a datalogger helpful enough to get you in the 12's, or would it be a better choice getting DMS link?
 
i have the hahn super16g and paid for the hole kit (stage2) and it was about 3000 but there is only so much boost you can do on stock internals but the hahn super 16g is capable of pumping enough boost to get into the 12s but you need the internals so you dont get engine damage.
 
NO!

People have run 10's on stock internals. People have put down 500 whp AND MORE on stock internals. You don't need a built motor.

14b's have gone mid 12's on many 2g AWD's.

These guys don't know what they are talking about.

i would be one of those 2g's, 12.67 on the 14b w/stock dp and stock smic. but i also have a 5spd. but you can build boost off of the line. i'd say get some line loc and build the tranny. then u wont need nitrous off the line, cuz u'll be boostin.

I take back my jackass comment in the other thread, you're all right :thumb:. Thank god somebody out there realizes you don't need every part in the book to go fast.

A 20G is NOT a 12 second turbo. If you are running 12s with a 20G you're doing something WRONG.

Get a 16g or 18g. Tuned well you should get 110-115mph traps on pump gas. Definetly enough for 12s.
You can normally find them used pretty cheap too.
