my check engine light came on today. anyone ever have theres come on? any ideas of what it could be. all my fluids are fine. and it runs normal.

or there is a vfaq on how to make your own code-checker. And I think autozone will pull codes for free.

no... for 2g's you'd need a pocketlogger or other scanner of some sort. I bought my pocket logger cable with palm from someone, and i'm pretty happy with it. Where in Nor Cal are you located??? i'm in so cali right now but i'll be back up there in sep. so i might be able to help you out. lemme know

mine keeps coming on but i just clear it whenever it does. it gives me the error for the throttle position sensor malfunction... as i logged it, i'm only getting 98% of throttle as WOT, so it's not too bad. i have this problem since april...

im in chico california about a hour from sacramento. anyone know how to turn the damn thing off that way it doesnt stress me out every time i look at it.

i have the check engine light on too, its a bad 02 sensor, my mechanic said no need to replace it because if you dont notice any difference then you dont need to replace it becuase the sensors are a rip off or somethin like that

vtec killer: If you reset your ecu, the CEL won't light up anymore. There's a few ways that i know to reset the ecu; 1)disconnect the neg. side of battery terminal for a few min. and connect it back. This will clear your CEL by resetting your ecu but you'll lose all your radio stations, etc. 2) I've never done this way btw, but you can find the power wire for your ecu and disconnect that and connect it back, same thing. 1) and 2) are almost the same, but 3) find someone who has a datalogger, in my case i have a pocketlogger data wire and a palm. and it has a function to clear it up.

Well, the best way to clear the CEL code is to fix what's freaking wrong with the car saying is wrong. The car is telling you something for a reason. Find someone or some place with a diagnostic tool (be it logger, or commercial unit, whatever) find what it is, and fix it. Holy crap.

TurboTSi, your mechanic is an idiot. Never go to him again. O2 sensors are important, and they give the car good gas mileage when just cruising and idling. If you have some sort of meter, you can also monitor the O2 readings for yourself at WOT, and get some general information on how rich or lean you are running.
