Hey guys i have a few questions...First off i have a 90 tsi with stage one mods minus a clutch and still at stock boost.
Now, all of a sudden it is idleing at about 1.5-2 for rpms on the stock tach. Is this normal?
Another thing i noticed is that on my boost guage i dont get alot of power in 1st gear...in fact it gets to about 5psi and then im at to high of rpm's and i must shift, but 2nd pulls much harder and to full boost...Can my fellow tuners please help me out. Thanks for your time

search for idle surge....theres a number of things that can be makin your idle bounce like that. maybe your biss idle screw, or your idle adjuster sensor, or even a dirty throttle body

ya....it isnt jumping around on the idle it is simply idleing high...around 1.5-2 for rpm's...so i dont think its idle surge...where are all the tuners here? come on guys....

check your biss screw(screw it in and out a little and see if that changes anthing), or it might be a dirty throttle body just like he said. If they get dirty they stick open a little and that could be your problem. It could also be your isc(idle speed controller) just cause its not surging doesn't mean that it isnt that. late.

check for boost leaks. a datalogger would help diagnosing things like this.

ok, i fixed the idle problem but why am i not boosting real well in 1st...its seems like there is no power there and then 2nd is vrroooom...my boost is at stock level still and i have all the 1st stage mods minus clutch....do i up the boost or wait till i can get the car dynoed and tuned? Just lmk guys...i simply just dont want a broken car :D

Any other options guys??? Am i safe with just turning it up to 16psi for daily driving?

ya get a datalogger its was the best omney i have spent for my car so far. REally helpful, i figured out why my car was running so shitty on the freeway and why i was getting so bad of gas mileage etc.... Good luck.
