I decided to make a post about this because I have asked two times before and never got any replies about the different types of alternators on the 4g63 engine. Everyone told me they were the same, but they are not. So here's to include in this forum database :

The 1996 Eclipse GS-T alternator has a 4 pin connection on the side, while the 97 has a two pin connector on the back. I believe the 95 model is same as 96 but I cannot assure you that. I also think the 98up dsms have the same model as the 97 alternator, but I'm not sure as well.

Oh and 1g's have 2pin connections on their alternators as well, but they are on the side like the 96 model.

That's it...

Also, Mine went out in my 95 AWD(leather, loaded), so I swapped it out with my 95 fwd turbo's(cloth, no power seat or roof) alt. The power output ratings were different. I dont remember what each put out, but the FWD wasnt as much as the AWD car for one reason or another.
