If you're thinking about doing this combo, just be aware that this set-up will BARELY fit on a 2g. I've had a K&N filter on my car for awhile now, and I bought an injen pipe off ebay. Installation was frustrating only because this set up barely fits in the engine bay. Also, I tried to modify the filter mount bracket in order to fit, but it just wasn't happening. I tried to fabricate a mount as well but there simply wasnt enough room.

As of right now the filter is in there so snug that it is lightly pressing against the side of my engine bay. It remains completely still even without the braket :laugh:

Just figured I'd give some words of warning from the experienced. If you want this set up, you have to toss the bracket and get a degree in physics in order to get the damn thing to fit in there.

hunh, thats kinda funny, do u have any of the stock airbox crap in there still? cause i installed an injen intake on my friends 2g with a an extreme technologys filter and it fits with plenty of room to spare, it had a k&n on it before and we held the 2 filters up together and the size difference wasnt much, but that filter is just hose clamped onto the MAS, i dont know what a "filter mount bracket" is but im possitive his 2g doesnt have one, the only thing the filter and MAS are connected to(with the excaption of the MAS wires) is the injen intake, not to the car in any way, the coupler between the intake and turbo is the only thing holding the filter, MAS and intake up, if u still have part(s) of the stock air box on there trash them
 
I guess I should have been more specific on the filter. Its not a basic round K&N cone filter, its the bigger oval tapered one. This inake is bigger than the two you spoke of, and it's much bigger than the filter that comes with the Injen kit.

Also, every 2G with a K&N filter that I've seen has a bracket that bolts to left 'flat' side of the filter and is mounted onto the engine bay below it. My air box is completely gone of course, goes without saying sinse I've been using a K&N for 3 months.

So, to clarify: If you have a OVAL or OVAL TAPERED K&N filter, you're gonna have trouble installing the injen pipe, but it will work.
 
I had the same problem with mine. i junked it and went back to the stock snorkel till I get the 6 bolt in and can see how much room I have with the new radiator hose on the lower end and my turbo outlet to the inercooler, mines a top feed IHI, I was really diappointed about the fit.
 
The Dejon Tool intake works fine with the big oval K&N filter. You still can use the mounting braket to keep the filter from moving. You also get to choose your color and it's alot cheaper than the Injen pipe.

u got a pick of it, cuz i didnt have a problem with the injen one but with the dejon, gawd i had to fight with it to get it to fit.

Haha hell yeah, I bought one off of ebay for 24 bucks total, came with the adapter and a k+n style round tapered open top filter. The only thing it didn't come with was the mounting bolts, but I just got some bolts and nuts that fit. Spools a little quicker and and even though I have the stock 2g BOV, it got louder.

Oh yeah <b>Cablefed</b> you got rid of the Intake pipe??? If not I'll buy it off of you.
