Anyone currently have (or had) a Slowboy 2gb16g (aka SBR-2g-B16g) on their car? Experiences and opinions?

Didn't find much information in a search, and no first-hand experiences popped up. Can this turbo really be that unpopular? It looks like a reasonable deal for a 2g bolt-on (no install kit needed), fully ported, 34mm flapper, big 16g. Obvious alternatives would be an AGP T28, FP Big28, turbochargers.com T28 killer, etc.

Looking to do the exhaust mani porting, EGT gauge, turbo, downpipe in one shot but STILL debating on a turbo. Goal for this car is a fast, reliable daily driver, but capable of putting down good track numbers on a rare occassion (perhaps low 13s to very high 12s _at altitude_).

If you want I you can PM me and ask me questions...but I don't have the 2g big16g...I just have their regular big16g ported/clipped/bigger wastegate...thats why I'm not gonna respond in the thread...I don't have exactly what your asking.

Uh I thought it was just their big 16G with a j extention welded on so it bolts right on a 2g?

According to SBR it uses a modified t3 compressor housing with a welded 90 degree elbow, big 16g compressor wheel tdo5h turbine wheel, and 7cm^2 turbine housing. Sure, it's basically just a big 16g, but it's still "different enough" for me to want to hear someone's first hand opinion of it.

Their's is no difference from any other Big 16g except the modified T3 compressor housing. As I believe you already said, the reason they use the T3 housing is so you don't have to buy a full install kit for the 2G. Now it's a direct fit. All you would have to buy would be the new oil line. The 90 degree elbow can be left off if you choose.

The porting/flapper mod/etc. is nothing different than what you would want to do to any other big 16G

I've only heard great things about Slowboys products and quality workmanship. When I buy my turbo I'll definitely be buying it from them(SBR-2G-20G) I've had good results with them so far.
If you're worried about the T3 housing, just buy there regular Big 16G and there install kit. They're just trying to make it easier with the sbr2gb16g.

hmmm that actually sounds nice. A bigger compressor housing should slightly improve the effiecency of the big16g...I don't see how it could hurt it any.

What he said:D
I found a site somewhere that stated that same thing. I'll see if I can find it.

I was hoping the compressor housing might improve efficiency, but would rather hear it from someone who has actually run with one. I assume it's "as good" as a regular Big 16G, but if it's actually a little better that would be a reason to choose it. I'd also be interested in how it compares with other common 2g alternatives (for instance a big28 style turbo with the same compressor wheel (well big or small 16g) but a t28 turbine wheel and different housings). Both of those factors can have a major impact on the charicteristics and overall performance of a turbo, so real-world experience is the probably the most accurate measure.

give slowboy a call or email mike im sure he would hook you up with all the info you need

well, since you have an X. you should definitely be able to achieve that in a B16G. You should pm ED(Eclipse4x4) I think he was running mid 12s on a b16G.

YEah ED ran a 12.5 with a big 16g which I currently own now. I havnet got it to the track yet, but this thing pulls pretty damn good. Still waiting on the FMIC and I should have seem decent times well at least a decent trap speed since i am FWD.
