Ok im running 20 psi on my stock tsi. I have a boost controller i made(it's a 3 stage) and im not hitting fuel cut at all. It boosts hard as hell and stays there. Do i have any chance of hurting anything? THanks

i hope u have a 1g tsi, cause 20 psi on a 2g's t25 will kill that turbo before u need another set of tires, a 14b can handel that boost but i dont know if the rest of the 1g engine will, im running 17 psi in my 1g, with a turbo back exhaust and an intake filter, ill have intake and an uicp soon, feels like its not getting enough air though, i need that intake and ic pipe bad

there is no way you're running 20psi on STOCK engine...if so, I wouldn't expect it to last to much longer...and what about the BOV..they can't even hold that much boost. Oh well..good luck

I think we need to clear up what model car he actually has first.

He says he has a boost controller he made so it must be a turbo car, and knows what fuel cut is again for a turbo car, so it must be a turbo car.

My guess is that he is taking his boost reading from right at the turbo which is always higher. Then the pressure drop and boost leaks common on 1G cars he is at 15psi in the manifold. Volia, 20psi and no fuel cut. Seen that enough times.

just wondering guys im in the rebuilding process i got some wiseco pistons for my 90 gst and the rest of the block and head is stock except for arp head studs and cometic head gasket can i run 22 psi wtih my set up and yes i would not get boost leak because the evo3 exhaust mani and type s blow off valve would take care of that

on stock exhaust and IC piping/intercooler, 20 psi is not actually that much airflow, so you won't fuel cut. Get a decent exhaust system and intake piping and its not happening.

I hit fuel cut at 16 psi on a stock car, minus air filter, boost gauge, and MBC. That was in like 50-60 degree weather.

You actually have a chance of hurting a lot. 20 psi on stock turbo and stock fuel setup would probably mean that your running lean conditions.

when my best friend bought his 2g we took it to the track, it had a stock intake w/k&n filter, 2.5" catback(dont know if it had a downpipe or not), and a small front mount with hard piping and a 1g bov, his MBC broke(hole in one of the metal barbed hose connectors the vacome lines connect to), it went to 27 psi with no fuel cut on the run he did before we realized it was broken
now with an injen intake, a much larger intercooler, and a 3" turbo back it hits fuel cut at 19 psi, u can run stupid high boost on a stock set up because its not getting hardly any actual airflow, get ic piping and a good exhaust and u will hit fuel cut at much lower boost
so no, 20 psi is not good to run on a stock engine, maybe 14-16 would be ok on a stock 1g

unless you have race gas. why does no one *ever* specify that? am i the only one who likes to run it? jeez.

i think thats bullshit. i was hitting fuel cut at 15 psi when my car was bone stock except for a boost controller. maybe your just lucky:) every car is different. you can run 20psi without fuel cut. thats cool. now just make sure you dont blow the car up doing that. get a logger asap.:thumb:

ok if you want to blow your engine up, continue running 20psi, untuned you are probably running very lean and if you keep running 20 your going to melt a piston......on my car at 16psi with no tuning i was logging 45+ counts of knock and .82 a/f.......tell your brother hes an idiot

LOL hes not dumb we just added a third stage and it went to 20. We only ran it for a day. It was fast as hell. Its back down to a safe 14-15. Thanks for all the info. We probably going to get a 3 inch exhaust, 255lph fuel pump and some more to come. Thanks

you can always do it old school style and run 20 psi for awhile then check your plugs to see if your runnin real lean

i have run 25 psi on my stock turbo, with stock i/c and injectors...

was running 110 oct, tuned it out so there was no knock....

never hit fuel cut...

thinking back... i have never hit fuel cut ever....

well if ur running 110 octane gas 25 psi is fine to run, i would think u should still hit fuel cut cause ur ecu doesnt know ur running on race gas, but with octane that high ur not going to see problems with a stock turbo at 25 psi, espicaly with its small intake pipe on the turbo, and not having it ported only means even less actual airflow, fuel cut is based on too much aiur flowing, not too much boost

well i know what i saw when i ran that run... i was running 25 psi, i was running the afc about 10% rich and i had no knock and my car hauled ass. i still hyave never hit fuel cut at any boost level, or hitting over 1800 hz on the karmen vortex maf. *shrug* dunno why LOL.
