Alright i wanted to know is there any way that you could do a turbo rebuild on your own or do you have to take it to someone to have it done. and if you can how much would it cost.:talon: :D any help that anyone could give or just point me in the right direction would be great.
thanks

I did mine myself, i called Majestic turbo in Waco and told them i wanted to rebuild my 14b. i sent them my wheels and they balenced them and sent them back with all the parts needed to do the rebuild.

I put everything back together (with new parts) and put it on the car..

it lasted 500 miles because they didnt properly balence the wheels..

so yes you can rebuild it yourself.. but DO NOT use Majestic turbo in Waco.

A turbo needs to be balanced as a whole assemlby, not just the individual wheels. Since you are starting with a turbo that was already balance you can mark the position of the wheels relative to the shaft so that they can go back together the same way. It's still a good idea to have it balanced after a rebuild, but it's not absolutely required.

You can do the rebuild at home, it's not that hard. Check out VFAQ.com there is a turbo rebuild section.

balenced as a whole meaining both wheels on the shaft... you dont need to send in the center section.. they dont balence it in the center section anyway, the take apart, balence , mark and assemble.. not hard... just the wheels the exhaust wheel (shaft attached) and the compressor wheel.. and the nutt.. need to go... but it MUST be marked because you will have to take it apart to assemble the finished product..

the morons at Majextic in waco used a MAJIC MARKER to mark mine.. HUGE THICK MARK.. not very accurate.. still pisses me off.

thanks for the help guys but how much did it cost for youto do the rebuild youself and another thing were in vfaq do you go to find the turbo rebuild section and the boost leak test

I got rebuild kit for $100 at Forced Performance.

When you log onto VFAQ.com scroll down to the bottom and look for the words,"Access the main page here..." and click on the word "here". That takes you to the heart of the VFAQ's. All the mod and repair stuff is categorized at the top of that page, just look for "turbo" click on that and look for "rebuild"
The leak tester is listed under "intake".
