does any one eles's car run like crap in hot weather?
i still have just the stock boost guage, when its hot, 80-90 degree weather it will only go up to 8 pounds, vs, in cool wether morning or night time 65 degrees it will run like hell, no i know the effect of the the intercooler and all that jazz but theres no way a stock wagon should differ that much.... at least i think so..... what do you guys think

I think it is what it is dude.... hot weather = less oxygen for the motor =less actual boost pressure's =less actual power made. Don't sweat it, summers are things everyone and their turbo car have to go through =)

Build a heat shield around your intake and you should feel a difference because I know I did. The end of the filter was warm but not nearly as hot as without the shield. The hot weather is just adding to the temp from under the hood. If you get rid of the engine heat the intake is sucking in then you should be running better.

ur stock boost guage doesnt even read boost, it estimates boost based on an equation of air flowing through the mas and fuel, there is no stock boost sensor, it has almost no relation to how much boost presure is actually inside ur manifold
mine runs slow in hot weather too though, the stock side mount ic gets heat soaked really easy, my car runs great at nite but in the mid day sun all the engine is getting is hot air

ya summers do suck int hat sense... but summer nights arnt too bad :\ hehe

Exactly true. And not only turbos feel like this.N/A cars are the same.
I live in Florida(HOT wether).I always feel the diference when I drive around 12-5pm and 11-6pm/am.Im pretty shure my car add about 5 HP on the wheel when I drive during the night time and the temperature diference is about 20-30 degree colder then it is in the noon time.
And expecialy cuz i have COLD ram air Made by maself:D .
All the radiator hoses and header pipes are wraped up.My intake pipe has solid heat shield(3 peases ) and on the top of these peases there is and a thin aluminum sheet that isolate even better. That even made my engine runs colder.Im pretty sure my colant temperature is down about 10 degree when it is hot and about 20 when the weather is cold.:thumb:
now the car feels faster during noons too and even faster during nitghts.
The hot weader might even cause the car to run alittle bit richer cuz of not enough oxigen. When I DYNOed my car we were into this hangar and it was at 2pm afternoon it was realy hot out there.and when the car dont move all the air that sucks is hot.My car run rich and that made the car to drop to 112 HP on the wheels and 113 tq .It might be bad O2 or poor ground to it.Who knows I changed it and Ill DYNO sometimes next week to see what it gona be.It should be 125 HP and 125 tq on the wheels:cry:
