I just got the N1 downpipe and have no place to put the ground strap on and my check engine light comes on. When i took the stock downpipe and the catalyc converter down i didn't see that there was a ground strap, so it broke in half. When i installed the N1 downpipe i connected whatever was left of the ground strap to the N1 downpipe hanger, i thouhgt it would be ok to make enought contact but for some reason it doesn't cuz the check engine light still comes one. Anyone with the same downpipe had the same problem? how did u guys hook up that ground strap??? Thanks. I have the 2G Eclipse

that or get a self-tapping screw and screw it into the DP. be sure to sand down the spots where the metal will touch each other.

He doesnt have his ground strap connected to the exhaust at all..

I do have my ground connected to the hanger,i'm going to try to connected to the downpipe with a hose clamp. I also bought a new ground strap since the old one broke in half. The sensor worked fine before installing the N1 downpipe, i don't see how it can go bad right after i put the DP on. How can i tell that the sensor is bad?

the check engine light is probably due to not having a cat on the car now. the ground strap will do nothing if its not connected. i haven't had one on for 2+ years. Taking out the cat WILL however make the cel go on

Is there any way to get rid of the CEL ??? Does anyone in here have the whole Apexi N1 Exhaust and their CEL is off? If i reset the ECU the check engine light will go off, but after driving the car for about 30 miles it comes right back on. Any ideas what to do?

O2 simulator, a small electrical circuit to fool the cars ECU into believing the O2 sensor is functioning properly. I don't have the diagram anymore but if you do a search on one of the major search engines for O2 simulator you should come up with something.

I took my o2 out, plugged the hole, and strapped the o2 to the side of the exhaust. No cel for 4 months

The intelligent people know what we are talking about.
To answer your question:

30 mpg on the highway
23 mpg in town

Econo simulator:rolleyes:

I just screwed my O2 sensor back in the exhaust, no problems ever with idiot lights on a full N1 setup.

*shrug*

Ahh... yes. :D

What I did was put aluminum foil over the tip of my o2 sensor. Then I started the car, revved the motor a little and it came flying out my exhaust...:thumb: . However, I still haven't seen a CEL and it's been about 500-600 miles. :still knocking on wood:

But your cheapest, and probably best bet is to do what a couple of people have said to do in this thread already. Plug the hole, and clamp the sensor the the side of your exhaust.
