I need to know if 0.003" piston to cylinder clearance as recommended in the details sheet is good for 6bolt engine running 22 psi or should it be bigger then that:confused:

That's the nice thing about Wiseco, the pistons work off of a tight cylinder wall clearance. That's also why they are one of the quietest forged pistons for our engines.

i gotta question..........kind of new to bulding blocks........what all needs to be done to the block when you install forged pistons on stock rods...
i know you have to bore to the size of the piston, balance the crank, hone the cylinders......what else needs to be done can you guys be specific...i really want to know everything......before i do mines....also can you guys give a price est. on all the machine work that needs to be done

Its not really the block, but what the block houses. I took my entire rotating assembly in to get balanced. Anything that rotates on the crank should be balanced. I took the following items in to get balanced.

Crank
Pistons
Rods
Bearings (Rod)
Wrist pins
rings
wrist pin retaining pins
Crank Pulley
Flywheel
Clutch

My machaniest took material off where needed to make things even across the board. He provided me with a computer printout of all the components and what they weigh. My Machinest only charged me $150.00 to do all the balancing. Anyone who builds motors for al living will tell you that you need to have all the parts balanced on the rotating assembly to reduce resistance. Make sure you get weight measurements on each component so if you burn a piston or other rotating part you can replace it and have it reduced to weigh what the others do and vice versa with any other part. The whole building process is not plug and play some machine work will be required.

As far as the block is concerned depending on the rings you are putting in you will prob. need to have the block honed if there is still cross hatch. If no cross hatch exists or slight wear marks you may want to bore the block out. If you do bore the block out you will need to get the right pistions to match the bore. Honing should run about $40.00 and to have it bored should run about another $30-40 depending on the shop. I hope some of this info helped. Good luck.
