Alright this might have been discussed before but im a lazy piece of white trash and am to lazy to look it up in the old forums... anyways...

Would i be able to run open blow off valve if i put in a 2nd gen gsx computer unit? i know that ppl can run 2nd gens without any problem at all having there bov open to the automsphere... im guessing ill need to put in a 2nd gen maf sensor too then.

i doubt it although i could be wrong. theyre 2 different engines with different internalsand differentHP amounts therefore differnt maps and everything.

No you couldn't vent, but there is a car out there running a 2g ECU and DSM link in a 1g, I believe.

You can vent it if you want but the car won't run right unless your running a VPC, standalone, DSMlink, or a translator with blowthrough. This has been discussed to death. The car will run rich in between shifts and/or sometimes even stall. It just depends on if you want to be fast or sound fast!

Thanks, I get tired of typing that out ;)

the ecu has almost nothing to do with venting, the reason u hear vented 2gs is because u can get a dsmlink if u have a 2g eprom ecu, the dsmlink will allow u to moddify things to compensate for venting to atmosphere, there is no dsmlink available for a 1g, only 2g
u will need to convert ur car from obd1 to obd2 to use a 2g ecu, then u will need to get it socketed for eprom and install the ecu, then u will need a dsmlink because the car isnt going to run right on a 2g ecu alone, but the whole point of doing this is to be able to use a dsmlink so ur already planing on getting one
but when u think about it the dsmlink is over $500, and it going to cost a few hundred to get the 2g ecu in there and working and socketed, u would be better of just shelling out an extra few hundred bucks and getting a VPC, u will be able to vent with that the same as if u had a 2g ecu with dsmlink, except ur car would be running on its own maps and not the incorrect maps of a 2g

that really sucks, this is getting out of control. The rice Knoob invasion has begun. This place is starting to suck ass.

jdmawd: If you feel this is the case, start a thread in the Site Feedback forum urging more moderation in the tech areas. I wholeheartedly agree, though. The statement you qouted is just plain sad. I feel bad for the future of DSMers everywhere ;)

The tech section has taken a nose dive from lack of moderation not lack of moderators. You are on here all the time, why you are not authorized to remove knoob/idiot question that lack simple common sense is shocking. When the posting rules are plastered in huge flashing lights everywhere like the Vegas strip is beyond comprehension.

LOL...I read it. Harsh, but point well made. I almost don't want the lock rights in here, but someone needs to clean up....especially something this blatantly stupid.
