hey i need help realy realy bad i cant even get on my car anymore, i am over heating realy bad, i am missing one fan will one fan make it that big of a problem i have hte turbo side one just i need the exhaust side, i just filled up with some peak 50/50 antifreeze and still if i get on it once its done, my engine gets so hot my antifreeze boils up and smilles out the other side (passenger side). im useing the pepboys universal 14'' fan. sorry i posted this in every thread i needed the help bad

Post in the hangout removed. Quit cross posting. Are you sure your fan is turning on? Thermostat OK? Water pump working?

well since you don't have an FMIC to block air flow to the radiator than I would check your thermostat as it probably isn't opening...just replace it your self it is really easy and when you go buy the new one from the dealership ask them if you can see a printout of the picture so you know where it is when you go to replace it.

Good Luck...

if that doesn't fix it maybe your radiator is screwed and you need a new one...also no not having one fan isn't a big deal. I don't have the "exhaust side" fan aka the AC fan either and I have a front mount...my car overheats on hot days but it is because the radiator isn't big enough not because of the fan.

ok something new is happening i dont know what it is but its the light on the right side on the second row the first one it looks like a building what is that someone told me the coolent so i have a full tank im guess my thermsate is clogged o ya how would i know if i have a blown hg

The "building" light is supposed to look like a radiator.
With a FMIC in summer you will need both fans, and make sure all the plastic ducting is in place so that no air flows around the sides of the radiator.

ok thanks ya well what ill be doing tomorrow is a new fan stock or i mite get a aftermarket for like 125 depending witch one is better, flushing my radiator and getting a new thermastat if that doesn do it then im f**** because then i could only think of internals and water pump

I have a similar problem but i only overheat when i boost......Correct me if i'm wrong but if you had a blown water pump you would be leaking some coolant.....Are you?

Yeah, and I didn't try to help you at all.

landoawd sorry man but i was realy mad, well i did a new thermastat and flushed my radiator and filled it up with peak 50/50 and it was great for a little bit then i got on it some what with one launch and just some heavy feet and it is going to about the top of the key between the second and third line is this ok of is it stilll hot rember i do have a fmic

Before you start the car first thing in the morning just pop the radiator cap off and check the coolant level there. If it's pushing fluid into the overflow tank there will be airpockets in the cooling system, which would cause overheating.

yeh...if you have air in the system..than it really messes stuff up.

Definitley make sure your fan is cutting on. Mine didn't and I was overheating daily. Damn fan was unplugged.

well i did the two fans, flush and there is no air in my system and i did two runs and my car went up to the top of the key and then some, this is realy ticking me off now what should i do i think im going to have to get a flyudine radiator and some red line water wetter , new pipes and cap

Before you get the new radiator and everything get a new cap...maybe it isn't sealing right and its not holding pressure...so the cooling system isn't pressurized and yeh then that would suck too...it a lot cheaper than getting a radiator. Hmmm Big Greddy FMIC...shouldn't blocking air too bad...I bet mine blocks worse.

Do you have both your upper and lower heatshields on?
And how bad does it overheat now? Just when you boost? Going up hills? Sitting at stop lights? What is the ambient air temp? What are you EGT's when you get on it? What are you EGT's when it overheats? What are your idling EGT's if it overheats at idle? Does it over heat at idle?

yes my upper and lower heat shields are on, it over heats when i get on it and some times it just over heats when i boost it it gets to the top of the key and then some, when i sit at a stop light it is hot but when my fans goes on it seems like it cools it down to less then half, my egt is all good never goes past 15 on full boost, and when its over heating its still good i would have to go drive my car around to tell u the exact temps, like i said it gets to the top of the key when i get on it. and i didnt two quick runs today and no i have this funny smell like burning rubber ( kind of smells ike that).

Now..... waitaminute. What the eff is this "key" you're talking about? Is it the THERMOMETER circled in the picture below? THAT'S NORMAL.

If you aren't losing coolant, and aren't getting into the RED ZONE, you ARE NOT OVERHEATING.

Until or unless you put a real gauge on the car, stop focusing on it. Yes, DSMs run warm. Yes, you'll have bad smells. Factory gauges are little more than idiot lights that wave. You may look into replacing your temperature sender, or just cleaning out the one you have now and where it grounds in the housing. It doesn't sound like you're overheating at all.

Key.

My god.

Ok, do you overheat only with A/c? because i ahve that problem. Try flushing ur radiator and using distilled water only and antifreeze, or else use 100% water wetter... I have 2 fans ... work great, especially in heat... fluidyne helps a bitchload too, last thing to check is ur headgasket.
