Ok, i don't have any clue what i'm doing when it comes to fuel stuff. I currently have a Walbro 190 fuel pump in, and stock for the rest of the fuel stuff. My plans are to go to a T28 varient turbo, like a Big-28 from FP or something in that size range.

So now:
1. Would a set of 550cc injectors be plenty big to feed a turbo of that size?

2. Would an SAFC be enough to control the 550's and still be good enough to run good 1/4 times? (non-F&F style, i mean realistically)

3. If #1 and #2 can be answered yes, are the SAFC's hard to tune? I'd be a total newbie at it and would need help.

ok cool. so now when i get some 550's, does it really matter what company makes them, or should i just go with whatever looks inexpensive? Or is there a traditional DSM brand that everyone seems to like?

You can run any 550cc injectors you want. Lots of different places sell them however they all seem to come from the same place. If you look around you might notice that they all have the same pics when showing off their injectors. Most of the places on the net buy them from www.fuelinjectorclinic.com. If you want to buy RC injectors go for it however everybody sayd that the ball/disc style injector from fuel injector clinic are better style injector than RC which is a pintle. Have a look at their site and click on products & specials and that will show you the difference.

I have 550cc right now and they are too small for my T3/T4 50Trim but work pretty well upto 17psi however my turbo pumps a lot more air at 17psi than a T28 does so they will be the perfect size for you.

Tuning your car with a SAFC and 550cc is very easy. Honestly what I did was set Low at -5 across and high at -10 across and then loged from there. If you dont have a data logger then your wasting your time. Setting up the low is easy just map your fuel trims and the high is done by watching timing.. I ended up with -10 and then down to about -8 at the top RPM band and it worked pretty well. I ran my car on my buddies FJO Wideband and the air fuel was perfect at idle and about 11.5:1 running which is a little rich but not bad (Around 11.8 or 11.9:1 is good for street on pump)

Hope that helps.

I would have to disagree with you here. The pic they have on the site is a horrible comparison. New 550's (ball/disk) vs old 450's (pintle), how does that show that ball/disk are better than pintle??? Most of the research has shown the opposite it true, that the pintle do a better job of atomizing the fuel. This goes with intuition as well. Think about your faucet in your house. It has the same 'Many holes in a plate' setup as the ball/disk and it doesn't atomize very well, does it?

Yes, 550s are good for your application.

I'm about to take some Denso Lucas 550s out of my car and replace them with 660s because I'm dropping in a 50 trim. If you're interested in buying some used 550s, PM me.

This coudl very well be true, I am not an injector expert. I do know which cost less though ;) Many people have run very fast time on 650 and 750cc ball disc style injectors so they must work well enough and they are cheaper than RC so regardless of which perform better they will work for what you want. Were not makeing 4000hp funny cars here where these types of differences really matter.

I have RC 550cc now and they are too small I am debating between 650 and 750cc injectors now, but I have a SAFC for fuel control and I'm not sure about controlling 750cc with a SAFC so it's still in the air.

I def. agree with this. Get the biggest injector you can for the money. I myself am definately a Mr. Cheapass.

Maybe you'll be switching over and joining us with the maft then? You could run 1250's if you wanted. btw it seems like www.ramchargers.com has decent prices on the big injectors. You might check it out.

Hello Jim my name is frank from fuel injector clinic . Question have you ever used F.I.C. injectors? The comparasen you used really does not apply Because the six holes in the injector spray in a 30 degree angle as to a pintel type injector spray pattern is at most 10 to 15 degrees of spray. I can show a comparesen between a denso and one of ours both being 550cc. if you want. Let me know if i can help .Thanks Frank
OH ! by the way a faucet was not designed to atomize water it was ment to airate
