2g t25 to 14b install

aight, well , i got a 14b turbo, what all do i need to do the swap? j-pipe? gaskets (oil and exhaust manifold?) ? any info would be great! thank guys.


also, if you guys have any links for install tips and what not, or just type it out for me, any info would be much appreciated!

1g oil drain pipe, new gaskets for both ends. New exhaust manifold to turbo gasket, new turbo to o2 housing gasket, SS oil feed line for a 14b, jpipe, 1 foot of 3/8" coolant hose, oil feed banjo bolt for 14b.

Well first of all, allow a day or two to get it done. You'll realize you don't have what you need and you'll end up making multiple trips to Advanced/Pep Boys etc. To install the 14B, you'll need the J pipe, gaskets (exhaust manifold, J pipe, downpipe), oil and oil return line, new crush washers, and most people replace the 1 stud on the exhaust housing with a bolt as well as replacing the 3 old bolts. Make sure you have plenty of gasket seal for the J pipe and te oil return pipe so they seal well. I suggest getting (at least) the Hacker/Tweaker install kit from RRE. Have a breaker bar handy to get those tough bolts on the exhaust manifold off. When torquing the manifold bolts down to the head, be careful because you can break the thread and that's not good. Think of how you're going to hook up the lower IC pipe with the new J pipe becuase you'll either have to cut up your stock stuff or make some. I used some exhaust piping from Pep Boys and that worked fine. Just make sure you don't get too angry or hasty with things b/c you'll definately become frustrated with it. Just take your time and it'll work out great and you'll enjoy your new power. Take care.

Do you think the full install kit from RRE is worth the money? Im going to be performing this swap soon and I am also curious.

you need:

1. Stock 2g oil drain (1g isn't long enough), just file the holes closer together.

2. 10" long 2" I.D. exhaust tubing with beads welded on both ends (to make an extension between the 2 90* bends in the stock 2g licp to reach up to the 14b outlet.

3. Stock 1G turbo outlet.

4. Reuse crush washers

5. New gaskets, as mentioned above. Any that are fairly new, such as the downpipe one if you have replaced it recently, don't need replacing.

6. The turbo end of the 1G oil feed line and the oil cooler end of the 2G oil feed line. Clean thoroughly and connect with high pressure fuel line and clamps.

7. I didn't need any more water hose as I used one t-25 pipe and one 14b pipe and they were the right lenth with very minimal bending.

That should be it.

It cost me $100 for the turbo from a friend who went 25G, less than $30 in supplies, and has been running strong for over 8 months now.

It wouldn't hurt to get the kit from RRE but like nine5raptor said, he spent $30 on supplies as oppossed to $195 for the hacker/tweaker kit. Just make sure you have another car ready to make your runs to the auto parts store b/c you'll most likely make a few of them. Good luck with it.
