Columbus,
I was hoping some people who have welded their center diffs could give me some feedback on overall drivability after they've done the mod. I'm going to invest in some dyno time so I think this is the route I'm going to go. I understand the other options(VCE eliminator, spool) but I'd like having the weld so I don't have to worry about it breaking during hard launches. Daily driving is becoming less and less of an issue with the car any mores as its evolving into a drag car but I'd still like some feedback.

Don't weld it until you have made it for drag only. It will cause some unneeded problems for your drivetrain.:thumb:

yea don't do it. Get another center diff. It might be cheeper just to get a JDM tranny. With a welded center diff you will go through rear axels fast. I see you have a 91 so you probly still have you 3 bolt. I have had my 1G almost a year and i have snaped 3 rear axels. I just hope that a 4 bolt will be able to hold up to it. This is just my view if you get a welded center diff don't daily drive the car and that 3 bolt will not last very long at all. I snaped my last rear axel when i was making a U turn. That is how much extra stress it puts on them. Hope that info helps

Well Mike I just want to point out to you that when welding the diff, IMO, is prolly the best way for a drag car. I have not had a welded diff in the dsm, but have had a VCE. Though its not the same I had a welded diff in a honda as well. Its really not as bad as one woul dthink driving around town. Side loads are big when turning sharply, but overall if its really only going to be driven to the track and back then I say go for it:thumb:
