Help me understand tuning and the best tools for the job

Alright,
as far as i know tuning is based on the fuel system and it's delivery.
Could someone explain to me how people tune a car? Walk me trough the process.

Also what is the best tool for tuning my goal car: low 12 high 11(depends on driveability) eclipse FWD, most guys around here are using haltech or microtech.

Tuning made simple:

Step 1) Be thankful that you are smart enough to own a 95.

Step 2) Forget about the expensive standalones you mentioned. Also forget about inadequate piggyback computers like the AFC, and slow OBD2 loggers.

Step 3) Go to http://www.dsmlink.com/ Read all about the chip that you will be buying there. Read how it allows you to tune pretty much everything you need to tune, while still retaining the stock ECU and good streetability.

Step 4) Purchase the chip, have it installed.

Step 5) Read the DSMLink tuning guide for 2Gs. It covers basically what you need to know.

Isnt that simple?
