I got my head replaced along with 1mm oversized valves and hks 264/272. I didnt have the money at the time for the crower springs and titanium retainers, so...I had the valve springs shimmed. We were not sure as to how far I could rev but...it would reduce the chance of valve float. Now, I have the money and was wondering if I could get those replaced? What do you think?

Shimmed springs will work, however it's a band-aid fix and shouldn't be implemented for long term use. You can purchase the springs and retainers seperately, but it's cheaper to buy them as a set (rather than seperately as two different purchases) and the titanium retainers will give you back a little of the power you will inevitably lose from the stiffer springs because the retainers are lighter. Good luck.

buschur racing prefers shimmed valve springs. the only ones better they say are the HKS valve springs and retainers. i here ferrea is pretty good but $$$.

you guys going to the AZ meet ? i guess ill see you there. ill be in the AZ for almost 2 weeks july 19th-23rd. well buschur's 7 second car runs on hks valve springs and retainers. good enough for him good enough for me. stock valvetrain is good to 9k. scot gray ran stock valvetrain to 9k for 3 years without a problem.

whereever whenever the AZ meet is. ill be in scotsdale kicking it with an old friend from college most of the time. going to help him with his turbo upgrade on his audi. definitely going to make some pit stops at AGP. gotta show off the big bad turbo on some dyno wheels.
