Sure, if those mods are something you like. I personally bought an eprom and am getting dsmlink. but if you already ahve an AFC or something then the TMO chip should make you very happy. http://www.tmo.com/prod/eprom/eprom.shtml
I know some of those mods on the ebay auction arent available for a 2g, search around on that site for a little while to pick which mods you want, and email the ebay guy and see if he does chips with your choice of mods.

A little off topic, but is it easy to switch from non eprom to eprom? Is it just unplug one and plug in the other or is there more involved?

These TMO rip off's i've heard of a couple of glitch's in the programing and there is realy no tech support on those, so be careful if you are to use one.
