What do u guys do to hold the valve from falling down into the cylinder!!
When replacing the valve seals . Just tie a piece of rope on one at a t time?? so it wont fall?
And by the way how many valve seals do i need ?? I know its 16 valve but do i need 32 valve seals or just 16??Thanks!

wow. let a mechanic do your work. thats waaaay too involved for you. the rope is to let you know where the piston is. compressed air in the cylinder is what holds the valves up. seeing how the car is a 16 valve and theres only on seal per valve............

YAi m just helpin my friend is doin them he is good on dsm's but just wanted to know what to use to hold them up from falling he did them before but the head was off the car so were doin them on it instead!!

move the piston to TDC, then put some very soft rope or string in through the sparkplug hole...make sure it doesnt fall all the way in so you'll be able to pull it back out.

if you use enough rope/string, the valve wont slide down that much:thumb:

glad i could help man!

i need to replace the valve seals on my civic, and this is how my dad told me to do it. he's an ASE certified mechanic, so i trust him every now and then :thumb:
