Crankshaft install???

My old crankshaft journals were rough becuse my rod bearings went bad. now i just purchased a new crank shaft. my question is do i just take the old crankshaft off and put this new one on..from what i know i think that is what you do..ne suggestions???
by the way i have my head off and my tranny off.

um... how else would you possibly do it? It's a much better operation out-of-the car and on an engine stand, if that's what you mean.

i heard that i have to "align-honning the crank bore". is that neccessary? and if so how can i do it?

Maybe try installing the crank with new bearings and add a light coating of motor oil to the bearings. Before you bolt anything onto the crank spin it to see how freely it moves. If you feel any scraping or binding there's work to do. If you're lucky it should spin smoothly.

if you are putting a new crank in ANYWAY... I would take it to a machine shop and have it knife-edged and balanced... and while they are doing that they will make sure it is good to go...

sorry for the mixup guys, this is what im trying to ask. since my old crankshaft journals went bad, i got a new crank. Now, how hard is it to remove the old one, and install the new one. are there any specs or clearances that need to be taken care of? is any machine work required to install the new crank? thanks.

Jeezus, take the darn motor out for such a complex operation!!!! Clearances will likely be an issue especially if there has been previous damage.
