89 galant RWD 4-cylinder......What engine is in it?

This guy I know has an 89 galant. I am not too farmiliar with galants, but he says it is rear wheel drive, and has a N/T four cylinder in it. I don't think the 4g63 was in those cars back then, but if it is, wouldn't it have the JDM "red" valve cover? Basically what were the engine options for that car?

There was an AWD Galant w/an NT 4G63 a couple years later, but no RWD has ever been produced.

there was a galant that came with the 4g64 but im not sure if it was rear wheel drive

there is a RWD galant there, but it doesnt run off a 4G63. and why would it HAVE the jdm valve cover? unless he did a jdm swap, it wouldnt have it.
