New clutch and an Exaust question

Ok after 4 days of 5k rpm launches the stock clutch was not holding the launch any longer. So its in the shop now for a centerforce. My question is will the car launch any better or be faster now with a stronger clutch?

My second question is I am trying to make this as fast as possible with little investment. I keep hearing to remove the exhaust after the downpipe. I asked my tech about this (I work at a mitsu dealer) and he said the exhuast is soo hot coming out that it would heat up the floor board and possibly start to melt the interior. Does this sound right?

If I could gain some HP from it and be safe I will. Right now I am going to try and gut the cat.

The exhaust is hot coming out of there, thats for sure. However it's only hot at WOT (wow...) and when your driving that fast air rushing under the car will cool the exhaust coming out quickly and the worst you will get is carbon on the underside of the car from the exhaust coming out there. That's about it.

It won't melt anything unless the heat couldn't escape, like say doing that on a dyno where there is not much air rushing under the car...
