 I'm ready to buy a new fuel pump but havn't yet decided which. I know I wanta Walbro fuel pump but can't decide between the 255low pressure or the 255 high pressure. Which would be best for a car with the following mods:
91 Talon Tsi AWD
big 16G(currently running 11 psi)
2.5" downpipe
3" catback exhaust
hacked MAF
HKS filter
2G exhaust manifold
FMIC
stock injectors

Thanx:thumb:

Neither! If you wanted a 255 pump, you'd have to have a AFPR also. You would never need the High pressure pump anyways(overkill) for a Big 16G

All you really need is a 190lph pump(low pressure or high pressure) with your Big 16G

So, what would be the max boost I could dial in with the 190 lph pump and my supporting mods.??? Assuming I plan on getting 550cc inyectors and a S-AFC in the future should I go for the 255 or should I stick to the 190???
Thanx

RX-7 TII fuel pump. its a Denso (quiet) and flows 210 lph at 12v @ 43 psi. with a rewire mine hits 44 psi at idle.

I've got a 16g and just ordered a 255lph low pressure pump. This way I won't be limited and i'm told that it will work without an aftermarket FPR.

The 190 lph pump is all you'll ever need with the Big 16G, supporting mods, the 550's and the AFC that you're talking about.

I also heard that the 255 low pressure will work without an aftermarket FPR. Not sure anymore??? Another question: would a stock 2g fuel pump fit on a 1g awd??? I have one at hand and numbers say it flows about 20 - 25 more lph than the stock 1G, wannaa use it until I decide which pump tobuy, just wanna make sure it will fit before doing the install.

everyone has there opinions on not using a regulator...

In all my experience, though it helps, it really isnt bad trying to tune and drive a car daily with no FPR and a 255+ FP... Yes 2G will fit in a 1G and visa versa you just need to hold it down right with a zip tie or something. They flow the same so Im not sure why you would want one. 190lph is fine for a lot of applications. 255lph is more than nough for most applications...

16g/20g is fine with a 190lph... the 255lph is basically the most popular pump around though. So many different types of cars use it in tons of applications. Great, cheap it works and theres no real need to upgrade from it later unless LOTS of power is being made.

Actually I found some flow rates on the RRE site that rated the 2G stock pump at about 25-30 lph more than the stock 1G pump. Thought about it as a free upgrade only. They compare 3 different fuel pressures at 12 and 14 volts and the 2g pump flows more.
In the end I think I'll go for the 190lph walbro.
Thanx

I never knew there was two seperate high and low pressure Walbro FP's so I don't know which one I have/had. But for the record I did have one and I was not using a FPR with it. I had a 16g, 550cc I's, upper IC piping and a few other mods. I was using an safc though

EDIT: nevermind, I see the difference now, I always referred to them by the numbers, 190 and 255.

Actually I was talking about 4 pumps
1. 190lph low pressure
2. 190lph high pressure
3. 255lph low pressure
4. 255lph high pressure

The not well know of the group is the 190lph high pressure.(this is the one I have now) From what I was told, they had problems with it at first adapting it to our aplications(not sure of the specifics). Needless to say, they have it worked out now and Slowboy now sells them as a kit(same price as the low pressure).
