Hey guys, I was looking foward on upgrading my 1G pistons to JE but I haven't heard too many good things about them. Should I get Ross instead?

je pistons are good but high. we run them in a 420a motor with a super 16g and 100 shot of nos. we are about to upgrade to a super 20g. the pistons are good for about 700hp. however ross are good pistons to but not as good and can't handle as much hp. if you are planning on running a 16 g w no nitrous or a 20g w/ no nos try the 2nd gen piston if you can get them cheap. if your block is in good shape try 2nd gens if you plan on going 450 whp plus go with ross if you plan on going 500whp plus go with je. good luck

JE's have clearence issue's on 4G63's with the heads. Whoever said Ross's can't handle as much power is a dumbass. I use Ross pistons, and they look brand ####ing new after a season and half of beating the hell out of the engine. Ross makes great pistons, and I would purchase them before I ever thought about JE's. Just so you know I only made 527whp, but I know others who use Ross's and have pushed well over 700whp.

I have JE's in my talon and i haven't had any streetable problems with them, the car runs fine. Yeah, if it's cold you should give 'er a little time to warm up, but if it's cold, you should give 'er a little time to warm up anyway.

i have a set of wiseco's, with rings and pins $399, daily driver, no piston slap here... couldn't see spending $550+ on JEs

I believe shephard uses ross pistons in his 9 sec. talon....Good enough? Anyways, how bout Endyn pistons? I've head of people running endyn pistons gaining 50 whp just from changing their pistons out. I hear mixted feelings about Endyn though. I know a guy with a few sub 10 second cars who swears by Endyn work, other who say he is a sham. In case you guys didnt know, Endyn pistons are wiseco pistons that have been machined to his spec.

Wiesco work great. Ross maybe better, but hard to justify the cost. If you have the money ,get ross, if you are on a budget, get some wiescos.

I had two sets of JE pistons. I would NEVER use them again. 1st set siezed in the bore when set to the clearance JE recommended.

Then again, whats wrong with stock pistons? They have made 500hp many times. I'm running stock pistons till they pop.

My motor was built by a very good shop and I have no problems whatsoever with my JE's. No piston slap, no clearance issues, nothing. They are very good pistons, and problem free if your engine builder is good.

That's what I've always thought but I've "heard" many stories now about JE Pistons and how they seem to have problems like Unreal's. I've got them in my 6-bolt, but it only has 70 miles on it. Anyone else?

i don't think having forged pistons installed in your engine is as contingent as to which brand (wiseco, JE, Ross, etc) as opposed to which shop. if you bring your parts to a good shop where the mechanics know what they're doing and you can trust them, you should have no problem regardless of the piston's manufacturer

i had/have JE's on my car and they've always been ok. The car went from 0 degree weather in IL to 100+ temps in AZ and it always ran strong right around to the point where I had a problem with my valve controller and ran about 29 psi for a breif moment, which was my fault. I also drove the car cross country from IL to AZ and as it sits now(literallly, haha) I still believe the pistons are fine and that its just a problem with a ring. The motor has about 75K on it with the JE's and was going strong till the aforementioned issue, plus it was my daily driver.

I am going to try ROSS pistons next though.
