Hey guys, Lowboost here just looking to see what you guys did for your 6AN fuel lines from the tank all the way to the rail. Im looking for pics, or most importantly a parts list of the different fittings will be needed to do this on my 1g awd talon. My original line rusted out from being in PA LOL Let me know what you guys did!
 
Personally i bought the 20ft of ss braided from jegs. Then as far as modifying the hanger i used this write up

For the filter, line to rail, and fittings this kit is hard to beat for the price.

The only thing you will need is another fitting for the end connecting to the bottom of the filter.

You could always use push lock fittings as well. A little more expensive but much easier to maintain. I wish i would have gone that route honestly.
 
How did you connect the stainless steel line from the tank to the fuel lab filter on the bottom? cause in the picture they give you a fitting that usues the stock line.
 
Theres actually two fittings on the bottom of the filter. The standard female fitting, plus the adapter to fit the stock line. All you have to do is just take the adapter fitting off.

The hose end fitting will screw right on then.

He's trying to do a line from the tank to the rail, eliminating the stock fuel line, not using it. That kit would be unnecessary. You'll have to piece together materials to do it, or buy this kit:

I put together a list for my build for everything i used, it is a tank to rail to tank, full SS, not going to be exactly what you need, but I labeled everything I used it for, hopefully it might help you.

I know what hes trying to do. And why would that kit be unnecessary? It would cost more to buy two fittings, 2 feet of ss line, fuel rail fitting, and the high flow filter. It all comes in one nice little kit.

From the filter to the tank is just a single line.

Could save $34, i guess its not a real big deal either way. Seemed like the stm kit was more expensive when i did mine, idk.

He's still going to an extra 90 bulk head, two nylon crush washers, and a npt fitting for the fuel pump hanger if he orders the stm kit.


Edit: I remember now, the stm kit was only available in black when i set mine up.

I agree with buying all the pieces separate, you will always save more money that way. If hes going to be buying the other pieces separate, might as well get the extremepsi kit parts separate, too; the 60$ on top of the 85$ for the FF for 2 fittings and 2 feet of line is not even close to being worth it. I think what you gain with the STM kit is that it is way easier to use, nylon vs. stainless, and a quicker and easier install. I pieced together a stainless line set because I didn't want to run nylon under my chassis, though. It's all a matter of preference, assembling stainless is a bi*** compared to nylon.
 
I'm confused, 2 posts ago you were talking about adapting the stainless line to the stock hardline. It's unnecessary for him to adapt his line to the stock hardline if hes REPLACING it entirely, since his is toast. It's hard to understand what you are actually getting at.....

He asked how hes use the kit if it had a fitting for the stock line on the filter. My reply was, remove it, you dont need it. Stated pretty clearly in post #4. Sorry if its coming across fuzzy. I'm can be pretty terrible at explaining thing sometimes.

I'm with you there. I wanted ss, and fitting color other then black(which was all stm offered at the time). I made everything from the hanger to the filter, then bought the 818 kit for the rest. It was a breeze. Just wish i would have used the push lock fittings.

Ok I see it now i was being dumb haha. Is there anyway fitting I can use to use the stock fuel filter with the braided SS line? I just want to get it on the road again. In a few months I will get the fuel filter to rail kit.
 
I'm just mentioning this, someone might have already but anyway. SS braided line is a bi***, a bi*** that I hate. Now the nylon braided line is a sweet pot o honey. 100x easier to cut and work with/fit into the AN fittings. And IMHO looks twice as good too. Esp. if you use the black/silver or black/black anodized fittings so everything matches and looks very professional.


Also, i'll never do it, but from my reading and looking at actual race cars, hard line is the way to go far as from the fuel tank to the engine bay. It's a much bigger affair as you need a pipe/tube/brake line bender and it's all one piece so you have to bend then test fit, then bend, then test fit all the way to the engine bay. But, it's safer, last longer (life of the car just about) and looks better. I say i'll never do it cause I doubt i'll ever get the time, money and work space to tear the car down to a bear shell like i'd want to and do this. (don't have to tear it down that far, it's just the best time to do something like this)


An to answer your question yes, they make a banjo AN fitting, I think extremepsi stocks them, not sure if you need -6 or what though, depends on your setup.
 
Just be careful reusing the stock filter. The last two that i've replaced had a hole right through the center of the element. Basically making it just an empty can. Plus the banjo bolt will restrict fuel flow.

i wouldnt re-use it. You'll need special fittings, by the time all is said and done, its only going to be another 50$ for an aftermarket fuel filter, which will be far superior to the stocker. You don't have to go fuelab or aeromotive, there are cheaper brands out there that do the same job. Like this:
