I recently picked up a TMO stage III ECU for a good price and am anxious to get it installed. It's been brought to my attention that the clutch position wire (for the two-step and stutterbox) has a diode in it. Apparently the diode is in the wire that goes to the connector side of the clutch switch and the other wire goes to the ECU side of the clutch switch. If ANYONE knows what size diode this is I'd be greately appreciative. I was under the impression that it was a basic "Y" wire, but I have since been corrected...

You only need the diode if you plan on using the clutch start safety switch. I already had mine unplugged and just used a straight wire and it works perfect.

exactly what he said... it is a simple 3 wire Y
Just tap into the green wire above the connector and your set!

Ah, excellent! Just for giggles, any idea what size diode should be used?

I'm in the same boat; I'd like to keep the clutch safety switch in place as well.

The diode can probably just be a GP silicon diode like a 1N4004. I just want to know which orientation it occupies in the 3-way "magic wire". 8(

the one with the diode goes on the switch side when you cut the wire.

do this. email jeff oberholtzer. [email protected] he's trying to pick up the slack since TMO left everyone hanging when they disappeared. he socketed my eprom and installed it and showed me what wire went where on the clutch cut. really helpful guy and does VERY nice work. john

Yep, already a step ahead of ya! I got in contact with Jeff via www.galantvr4.org and got the clutch position wire w/diode incident all figured out. If anyone wants a quick diagram just e-mail Jeff or myself and we can get ya set up (I'm assuming Jeff would be in for this, but just in case drop me a line first). Anyhoo, I got the dillema figured out:thumb:
