:talon: Hey im just curious, but an EVO III 16G, the one that is slightly smaller then a Big 16G...that turbo will bolt up to my stock 2G exhaust manifold right? Just wanted to make sure before i buy anything. or if any of you have had experience with this turbo, is it a good buy? any feedback would be appreciated.
:talon:

Yeah slowboy racing is where i first saw the evo turbos, i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these turbos, and whether or not they were good. i contacted slow boy, they said $660 for just the turbo, $50 for porting, and $75 for clipping. I dont need the 02 housing and manifold and what not...so yeah, anyone whos had any experiences with this turbo, good or bad, a reply would be apreciated. :talon:

Hey guys,

The EVO III unit is quite nice, however I sold every one of them I could get my hands on... More are on the way, but it will be a few weeks. I will make a post when they are in!

Regards

Mike Huml

my gsx blew up on me last week so i'm looking at the EVO III the the 16G or to do the 6 bolt swap, any one have any opions on the two?

will i need a 16g install kit to put it in my 2g GST??
What are some other good supporting mods for this turbo?

6 bolt swap is a definite yes if you already have a bad engine in your 2G... 16g is a great street strip turbo.

Im currently running an EVOIII on my 93TSi and it kicks much booty! As compared to the Big 16G the EVO offers a slightly lighter housing (2lbs lighter) than the B16G and lighter compressor blades for faster spool up. I got mine from Forced Performance for the low low including gaskets. I installed mine with a 2nd Gen exh mani and stock 1G O2 sensor housing :( and downpipe. Still performs incredibly well compared to my 14b. EVOIII is the way to go! :thumb:

Ive been doing a lot of research on this evo III turbo. It seems like with all the boost creep issues and having to port it and clip it and all this stuff, the regular big 16g would be a better way to go? It may not give as much performance but the evo III seems like a big hassle. I could be wrong....but id like to know exactly why. :dsm:

(P.S. I have about $850 to spend on a turbo upgrade....just trying to find the best thing to do for the money).

Its a relatively new turbo to the market, so I would exspect people to have problems for a bit. All the kinks have been worked out of the B16G equation, and I don't think it will be long before people figure out how to make it work. :thumb:

So the regular big 16g has the same creap problem? Is it as bad as the evo creap problem? have the kinks been worked out of that one....it seems like its been out for a while.

I got the evo iii turbo, o2 and manifold all from slowboy. I put it all on and holy crapoloy batman! damn does this thing pull. Fried my clutch the first day trying to get on it. Gotta take it easy now. It is a nice ass turbo, do the porting yourself on everything, i bought a pneumatic grinder kit from harbor freight tools for only 29.99, it is the shiznit and it is easy. I had slowboy port my o2 housing and they did an awesome job, i then did the manifold and the turbo, i did just as good as a job once i figured it out....Use the stones to grind and shape, then use the sanding bits to smooth to a mirror finish. The turbo is a great buy for the price I highly recommend it.

Why does everybody cry about the creeping so much? I notice people who don't have the turbo cry the most.

I had creep with my t25, it is not a big deal. You try to minimize it as best you can through mods and porting. My Evo 16g does not creep at all. I even have a manual boost controller that I got serious creep from the t25. The turbo kicks ass!!

get the ported evo iii O2 housing too like me and a 3" dp to bolt up, i don't have any boost creep either.

Got a link?

Does you guys think i would be able to produce 400hp to crank or even to the wheels w/ the Evo III 16g with all goods ( cams, intake, built motor, front mount IC, all of the other supporting parts). I've been reading that it can make 370hp - 380hp, so i figure with some addition hp producers i would be able to make it to 400hp, which would be my goal. :talon: :thumb:

I would think you would have to squeeze every single bit of power that thing has to get upwards of 400, or even to 370 like they estimate.

Agreed, Only 375 HP if u max it out. So if your future plans include anything more, get a bigger badder turbo.

50 trim is the shizzle dizzle!

link to where i bought my evo iii turbo, O2, and Mani is

Where you can buy the grinder is

lots to choose from. Also, Sears in your mall is a good place to get grinding stones for it if u choose to just buy the regular grinder itself.

This one is particularly good for getting deep in the runners and those hard to reach spots.

Later, Good luck

All 16Gs creep without some porting.

Even a T28 will creep without porting.
