attached file is the turbo in question.

the step is completely ground away, but there's still a lump so to speak as the exhaust gasses are compressed and enter the side of the turbine.

we took our time doing this, about 2 hours. does it look like theres more that can come out or is it good the way it is now?
 
I would work on polishing that up a little before making a decision. Just be careful that if you decide to take more out, you don't make the walls too thin that they could crack under the stresses it's going to experience. It comes down to what is more important, an extra 1/8 of an inch for air flow or a turbo with an intact exhaust housing.
 
yeah, we're working on the polishing. I guess the porting itself is satisfactory. You're absolutely right I'd hate to make the walls too thin! :D
